Pelvic Floor Exercise with Ashton Koehlmoos

Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Host Caitlin Johnson and Sophia Pavia speak with Ashton Koehlmoos.
Ashton is a long time listener of the podcast and has her own unique fertility journey. She is a fitness educator supporting all women in the ttc, pregnancy and postpartum stages.
She now educates and help you find the inner strength your body posses through your breath & inner core unit to create support and stability through all chapters of motherhood. She wants you to feel empowered to make decisions on when you need to scale back your training and when you can advance.
She helps mamas take the fear out of exercise while trying to conceive, while pregnant, or while postpartum. Even if you've never worked out before, you can start! Being told to "continue what you did prior" or "stick to yoga" is outdated and poor advice for all mamas, but especially those who have have a passion and drive for exercise and competition.
In this episode, Ashton speaks about her fitness background and being in the fitness industry for more than 11 years. She speaks about the importance of doing work outs that work with your body and not pushing yourself to exertion five days out of the week.
For her, cutting back in the gym was a pivitol part of her fertility journey.

Follow Up With Listener Caitlin and her Pregnancy Update

Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Host Caitlin Johnson and Sophia Pavia speak with Caitlin Dillon.
This is an update episode! We had Caitlin Dillon on during season two to talk about her fertility journey. She took our advice and it led her to getting further tests done along with working with a great medical team.
Now, Dillon is more than halfway through her pregnancy and speaks about how her faith has allowed herself and her battles the struggles of infertility and navigate through this pregnancy.
The three women speak about protecting your peace while trying to conceive and how it's okay to not say yes to every baby event. For example, baby showers and first birthdays. They go over how grief impacts both men and women and the differences in how husbands / partners can grieve infertility.
It's an uplifting story and one that will make you feel good no matter where you are in your fertility journey.

Pregnancy Loss And Options For Care

Pregnancy Loss And Options For Care

Welcome to another episode of Food, Freedom, and Fertility. Host Caitlin Johnson and Sophia Pavia speak with Allison Tartari.
Allison found her way to midwifery care through the pregnancy and birth of her fourth child. She knew she wanted to help support women during pregnancy, and avoid the unnecessary interventions she encountered with her other children. She became passionate about educating families on other, safer options for birth. She became a D.O.N.A trained doula and followed that path for 8 years, attending many births in and out of the hospital setting.
It became clear to her that most people are not aware that they have rights, that they can say “No” to a doctor or nurse. She had to share this knowledge and decided to become a midwife. She applied and was accepted to the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in 2014.
During her doula career and experience as a student midwife she learned that consistency in care provides better outcomes, which is a major component our system is lacking. Out of this passion for holistic, integrative healthcare Tourmaline Birth and Wellness Center was born.
Caitlin, Sophia and Allison speak about the hard topics that come with infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth and more.
This episode is a tough one but is still important to hear if you are navigating through infertility, have had a miscarriage or want to gain information about this subject.
