    78. Goldielox - The Modern Day Judaica with Vivien Judson

    On this episode, Paige chats with the founder of Goldielox and creator of the Menschie Mahjong set. Menschie Mahjong is a Jewish themed set of mahjong tiles that honors both the Chinese origins of the game and the Jewish celebration of it. Viv shares with Paige the idea for Goldielox and how the idea came to fruition when putting together her wedding registry. She wanted judaica pieces for their home that were beautiful and fun, but also had the quality to be an heirloom some day.

    Viv shares how moving from Boston to Dallas introduced the game of mahjong by her mother-in-law. She quickly realized that the Jewish community in Dallas and across North America has a deep love and connection to this special, Chinese game. Paige and Viv chat about identity, being raised in their hometowns and how you can create a sense of identity and community wherever you end up in this world. Michelle is an abstractionist painter working mostly on canvas and linen with acrylics, oils and pastels. She creates to express what she can not say with words and to feel connected to the impulse of composition.

    Michelle shares her creative journey of how she attained a graduate degree in Graphic Design from the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA and initially achieved her dream job in New York City. However, she soon realized the need for more spontaneity in her creative pursuits. She dedicated her evenings and weekends to crafting intricate oil and acrylic paintings, and as the recognition and demand for her artwork grew, she made the decision to embrace a full-time career as an artist upon returning to Atlanta. Michele shares her decades of experience as a working artist by teaching classes and inviting people into her cozy backyard studio for workshops.

    Paige and Michelle chat about the importance of the deep work of self reflection, meditation and the energy on the work you are creating.
