In the second part of my discussion on cryptology, I pick you back up from the cliffhanger that I left you on last time and tell you a story about WWII. Cryptography and cryptanalysis' role in our world is both intriguing and relevant, as you'll find out from my explanations of historic and modern cryptic tales!

Today we're going to look into the kind of math that's fit for a secret agent. It's called "cryptology!" I'll tell you about the basics of its two branches: cryptography and cryptanalysis; as well as some fascinating stories from the field. This puzzle-type area of mathematics (and computer science) is one of the most relevant to our modern way-of-life, and it's been that way for centuries!

Apologies for how late this episode is! I kept finding more and more that I wanted to talk to you all about.

In this third episode of the show, we're going to look into- yep, you guessed it- the connections that have been (and are continuing to be) made between mathematics and music. We discuss the role that the Euclidean Algorithm has played in western music and different ways that we can visualize melodic structures found throughout such an important piece of society/culture.

In the second part of my re-telling of Hypatia's story, I introduce some of the 'side characters' that are necessary to understand the background of the story. I also explain the unfortunate and tragic ending to Hypatia's life.

In the first true installment of the series, we'll begin understanding who Hypatia, a mathematician of 4th and 5th Century Alexandria, was. Part 1 focuses on the background information you'll need to know about Hypatia in order to understand her life's lasting legacy.
