Matthew Nouriel, aka The Empress Mizrahi, is a non-binary digital activist and content creator of Iranian Jewish descent living in Los Angeles, California. In recent years, Matthew has been using their voice to passionately advocate and fight for the causes they believe in - namely LGBTQ+ rights and equality within the Iranian and Jewish communities, and combating antisemitism - using their social media as a means to reach those who relate to their perspective and lived experiences, as well as engaging audiences on panel discussions and speaking engagements across the country. BONUS EPISODE - Reflecting on the podcast at the University of Brighton

BONUS EPISODE - Reflecting on the podcast at the University of Brighton

Welcome to this bonus episode of When Did You Know? which I am releasing as part of National Inclusion Week 2022!

This mini episode is a recording of a talk I was invited to deliver online at the University of Brighton in February 2022 as part of their LGBT+ History Month celebrations. They invited me to reflect on the stories shared in my podcast before taking questions from the audience and what follows is an edited recording of that speech to keep you occupied whilst I finish editing season 3 of When did you Know which will be out in a few weeks time.

If you want to learn more about National Inclusion Week then head over to www.inclusiveemployers.co.uk to find out more.

"It was a gay kiss on Emmerdale" - Ariel Chapman (my story)

On 'When Did You Know?' this week I am sharing my own story of when I knew! A former guest on the show (and now an amazing friend) Wahaj Mahmood-Brown interviewed me to find out why I started the podcast, what school was like for me and how hearing everyone's stories has impacted my life. This was recorded some months ago and I'm really please to be able to share this with you as the season finale of Season 2. Check out my other projects and work information here.
