The Big 12 announced their conference opponents matrix late last week and there is a good balance of matchups between the presumptive top five teams in Arizona, Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas.

The Big East has announced a new media rights deal that will start in the 2025-26 season, following the expiration of the current deal after 2024-25. This shorter and more-lucrative six-year deal should put the Big East in great shape going forward.

Bronny James was selected 55th in the 2024 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, who are now expected to reunite with superstar LeBron James in free agency. James' agent Rich Paul reportedly told teams in the second round not to draft Bronny or else he'd play in Australia, but do we really believe that to be true? And will Bronny carve out a role with the Lakers?

Round 1 of the 2024 NBA Draft took place on Wednesday evening. One of the key story lines was the sheer number of collegiate centers taken in the first round, started off by Donovan Clingan and Zach Edey in the top 10. While Dalton Knecht didn’t go in the lottery as expected, his ascension from JUCO to Northern Colorado to Tennessee to the Lakers is storybook. We had several big picture surprises including Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard, who went from fifth-ranked incoming freshman ON HIS OWN TEAM to the first college player off the board at number three overall. As Thursday’s second round starts, only Duke’s Kyle Filipowski and Kansas’ Johnny Furphy will be left in the green room.

The 2024 NBA Draft starts tonight (Wednesday, June 26) with the 1st Round and carries into the 2nd Round on Thursday. We have a higher volume of college bigs expected to be drafted in the 1st round than we have seen lately – Donovan Clingan, Zach Edey, Yves Missi, Kyle Filipowski, Kel’el Ware, DaRon Holmes II.
