Ageism and the Pandemic. I had been trying to understand, as much as I could, why these two young females in Florida perpetrate being elderly women in order to become vaccinated. The only thing I’m able to conclude, based on my research for this episode, is that they place absolutely no value on the lives of an elderly person, so as to deliberately mock, ridicule and steal a lifesaving opportunity that was not intended for them to have. Do they honestly believe that their life as a younger person has more value than that of an elderly person? My thought, as unfortunate as it may be, is that these females wholeheartedly believed that they had the right to deny two other human beings their right to become vaccinated by perpetrating upon the vulnerable community and robbing two elderly people who could have gotten the vaccination instead. Help me out here, young people - please help me to understand what the breakdown is in fabric our society where someone would stoop so low? Where is the disconnect? Are we, as an aging society, doomed to become prey for the younger generations?
