My name is Lo Moran! For the last 6 years I have been exploring situations of intense personal and political difference through conversations, participatory workshops, internet research, consultations with experts and people with stories to tell, attending events, performative moments of aggressive vulnerability, public engagement, and a frank examination of the stories I tell myself, my own identity, positionality, assumptions and fears. Introducing 'Difference is a Field'

    Introducing 'Difference is a Field'

In 2015 I decided to have a conversation with a street preacher as a strange way of dealing with my own trauma. I want to tell the story of what unfolded from that conversation, and how it lead me down a spiral of talking to figures who seek spectacle as right wing activists and thinkers, and who have the extreme views I fear, yet can't stop researching and exploring my own worldview through. It feels important to map ecosystems of ideas from culture, ideology and rhetoric even though these conversations and this research often make me feel like Im looking into a dissonant unknown. I had been documenting interactions, opening family wounds and talking to people who have now become central figures for ideologies that have been amplified into event like the capitol riot or the current culture war attacks on critical race theory and social justice. I want to try to create more understanding, but I often wonder what conditions would make understanding possible when out divides seem so vast.
