The Fisherman & His Wife
This peculiar German fairytale sees a fisherman win magical wishes from a fish who can speak. His wife goes a bit crazy. Nothing will stop her ambitions, except perhaps the fish... While this tale is relatively unknown, it has many equivalents from English to Indian and potentially even Japanese folklore. There isn't always a fish, and there isn't always ambition to rule the world, but you can see the similarity even when it's just a greedy jackal waiting for a bull's private parts to fall off. Not that this version ends well either, mind.
