Life After Teaching: Mental Health and Wellbeing

Life After Teaching: Mental Health and Wellbeing

In this episode of the Life After Teaching Podcast, Sarah chats with Sam Padmore, experienced mental health and wellbeing coach.
Both Sarah and Sam have experienced their own 'rock bottom' moments in terms of their mental health and they do talk around these points in this episode - there are no specific details, but it may be triggering, so listener discretion is advised.
There are lots of moments of hilarity throughout, along with some really reflective discussion about how teachers and fellow educational professionals might spot the signs of burnout or stress and how they can take steps to help themselves.
Even though this discussion was initially intended for our FB support group, the experiences and advice/discussion are relevant to anyone so if you feel that someone you know might benefit from hearing it, please share.

Life After Teaching: Resilience and Mental toughness

Life After Teaching: Resilience and Mental toughness

In this week's episode, we are digging into themes around mental toughness, resilience and moving forward after setbacks.
Starting with Sharon and Sarah having a 10 minute 'chewing the fat' based on some of the experiences of group members in the last couple of weeks, Sarah then moves on to interviewing Anthony Taylor (of ThreeFifty9, author and all round lovely chap) about his own employment journey, how he has overcome challenges and gone on to be a genuinely successful business coach.
Along the way there's some absolute pearls of wisdom about how you frame your CV and how you start on a new path when you have absolutely no idea what it is that you want to do.
Thanks Anthony for being our guest - I definitely owe you a coffee when life returns to normal.

Life After Teaching - Episode 1. A scouser in Australia...

Life After Teaching - Episode 1. A scouser in Australia...

It's our first ever Life After Teaching podcast.
We are on a massively steep learning curve currently, so please be gentle with us!

In this first episode, there is an introduction explaining who we are and how the podcast has come about.
This is followed by a brief chat between Sharon and I about teachers feeling deskilled and some thoughts about mental health.
The main interview is with Stacey Hughes, an ex-Pat scouser now in Australia, who chats with us about her experiences in different toxic school environments.

It's a little raucous at times and the occasional swear word slips out.

Please be aware that there is conversation around mental health - nothing explicit or detailed but it may bring some feelings to the fore if you have experienced workplace bullying or mental health challenges.

Sending you positive thoughts for the week ahead.
