This week, we are putting on our skeptic glasses and looking at some very commonly held beliefs that are completely wrong! How many spiders do we swallow in a year? The answer might surprise you. Unless you think about it for a few minutes. Then it seems pretty obvious.

Sorry we skipped a week but we had a good reason – Tim’s mom died! And while that sucks, it gives us a great opportunity to talk about the experience of losing a loved one of faith and having to deal with all that faith stuff while you are grieving and that faith stuff means nothing to you. Maybe not the most positive of topics but hey – maybe you will find it useful when you find yourself in a similar situation!

We scour the news for some topics this week. In the “God and Technology” category, we talk about AI Godbots and a bible museum in Philadelphia that is closing because, apparently, nobody went to it. In the “late stage capitalism” category, we talk about Uber and Lyft pulling out of Minneapolis because they would rather not pay their drivers than raise their rates. Or something.

This week, we take a look at Lisa Frankenstein, a movie written by Diablo Cody. The movie is kind of a parody of 80’s horror movies and definitely takes inspiration from the original Frankenstein. We spoil the shit out of it but we all had our problems with this one. You might like it, though, so feel free to ignore this episode if you like!

This week is another boner episode where we talk about whatever geeky things have us super excited right now. Also, we make juvenile dick jokes. Because we are fourteen. If you’d like to know why we chose the title “Grimacing Boners,” you will just have to listen to find out!

We decided to check in as far as where we are with being atheists compared to where we were when we started this podcast almost 13 years ago. It never hurts to check in about these sorts of things from time to time. Also, we didn’t have a better idea!
