Interview: Krista Perry, Stunt Coordinator for 'Reservation Dogs' Season 3

Interview: Krista Perry, Stunt Coordinator for 'Reservation Dogs' Season 3

Welcome to a new Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. This week I’m chatting with Krista Perry, the Stunt Coordinator for Season 3 of ‘Reservation Dogs’.
‘Reservation Dogs’, which is available on Disney+ in the UK and on FX on Hulu in the USA, follows four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob, and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious, and faraway land of California.
Krista Perry is a native Californian, who grew up travelling the country at the age of eight for competitive swimming. Finishing out her career as an All American Swimmer in the state of California. There's nothing in the water she has not mastered or attempted. However, she had a rather interesting route into film, which we cover in the interview.
The stunt work on the series involved working with the actors so they can confidently execute their stunts, coordinating challenging horse stunts while maintaining set safety, and even locating and casting a horse-riding conquistador!
Outside of ‘Reservation Dogs’, Krista has worked on shows and films such as ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Dark Winds’, ‘Roswell, New Mexico’, ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘The Right Stuff’, ‘Fancy Dance’, and ‘A Creature Was Stirring’.

Interview: Production Designer Ramsey Avery - ‘No One Will Save You’, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’

Interview: Production Designer Ramsey Avery - ‘No One Will Save You’, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’

Hello, and welcome to a new Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. This week I’m chatting with Ramsey Avery, the Production Designer behind Disney & Hulu’s sci-fi horror film ’No One Will Save You’.
Written and directed by Brian Duffield, ‘No One Will Save You’ follows Brynn (Kaitlyn Dever), an exiled anxiety-ridden homebody, who must battle an alien that found its way into her home. What makes the movie particularly unique is that it features only 5 words of dialogue in the entire movie.
This made Ramsey’s job an interesting challenge as he needed to help showcase all of the unspoken storytelling through his production design. It meant that his sets and designs had to be intricately planned and executed to make up for lack of words and to use the world around the main character to explain everything from who Brynn is and her backstory to the reasoning behind her choices and her relationships with other people in town with whom she only has a single non-verbal interaction.
It’s a fantastic little film, and if you’re in the UK you can watch it right now on Disney+, or in the USA you can find it on Hulu.
In the interview, we not only discuss Ramsey’s work on ‘No One Will Save You’, but also his impressive back catalogue of projects including ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, ‘Minority Report’, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, and ‘Team America: World Police’. He’s also worked on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. Plus, he has designed various theme park attractions, including the Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure.

Geektown Radio Episode 426: The Acolyte, Galacticare, Star Trek Discovery, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Reviews, Plus TV News & UK Air Dates!

We are back with another bumper episode 426 of the Geektown Radio podcast, and Dave is joined by host, comedian, podcaster and streamer, Rik Carranza, to chat TV, film, and video game news & reviews!
Rik is a stage host, stand-up comedian, podcaster, streamer, and all-around geek. He is also known for his hilarious stage shows 'Star Trek vs Star Wars' and 'Marvel vs DC' where guests fight for the honour of their favourite franchise, both of which are playing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024.
Rik brings us some interesting TV and film reviews, along with some retro game reviews, and (something we don't have on the show very often) a gadget review! First up he joins last week's guest co-host in his praise for 'Furiosa', before moving onto a reviews of the Netflix animated series 'Scott Pilgrim Takes Off'. Also, given Rik is such a massive Trek fan, we hear his thoughts on 'Star Trek: Discovery', which leads into a larger discussion about 'Star Trek' in general. He also reviews one of the many retro handheld gaming consoles, the Anbernic RG556. Meanwhile, I review "Rogue", the latest 'Doctor Who' episode, and the brilliant recently released game Galacticare, which is basically Two Point Hospital in space! We, of course, both discuss last week's big release, 'Star Wars: The Acolyte'.
Moving on to the news updates, we update you with all the latest cancellations and renewals, which saw The CW chop down another series, whilst we have ‘Peaky Blinders’ officially returning. In the news we discuss UKTV's (frankly, horrible) rebrand, Jensen Ackles landing a new show on Prime, Charlie Hunnam becoming a 'Criminal', and lots more! It is another packed show! Listen below!

Geektown Radio Episode 425: Furiosa, Star Trek: Resurgence, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Bodkin Reviews, Plus TV News & UK Air Dates!

Following a little break last week due to MCM Comic-Con, we are back with a bumper, jam-packed episode 425 of the Geektown Radio podcast, and Dave is joined by film critic, multi-award-winning director, and podcaster, Matthew Stogdon, to chat TV, film, and video game news & reviews!
Matthew has been a film critic since 2004, writing for various sites and magazines, along with his own site, TheRedRightHand.co.uk. He's also been a multi-award-winning filmmaker since 2009 via his company, Cheesemint Productions, and a podcaster since 2017 with his show, Sequelisers. He describes himself as "a big old nerd who has a strong love for pop culture but an unmatchable passion for film."
Despite his very busy schedule, Matthew has not only managed to fit in some time for our show, but also review some film, tv and games for us! He gives his thoughts on the movies 'Furiosa', 'The Garfield Movie', and 'Dune: Part 2', along with TV shows 'Bodkin' (Netflix), anime 'Brave Bang Bravern' (Crunchyroll), and Apple TV's 'Masters Of The Air'. On the gaming side he reviews 'Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater', 'Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth', and 'Tekken 8', but also has... thoughts... on the pricing for 'Assassin's Creed Shadows'... Meanwhile, Dave has been catching up on 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live', which has finally been released in the UK by Sky, and the latest episodes of 'Doctor Who'. He also has been searching Steam's wallet-draining "Open World Survival Crafting Sale", picking up 'Survival: Fountain Of Youth', 'Robin Hood: Sherwood Builders', 'Nightingale', and 'Enshrouded', along with playing through 'Galacticare', and 'Star Trek: Resurgence'.
Moving on to the news updates, we have all the latest cancellations and renewals, which bad news for Melissa Benoist and Jared Padalecki, but good news for fans of ‘Hacks’. We also discuss Holly Hunter joining Starfleet, casting for the new 'Dexter' prequel, Nicholas Galitzine hitting the gym for a ‘Masters of the Universe’ film, and Guy Ritchie heading back to 'Sherlock Holmes' (albeit a younger version!) We did say it was a packed show! Listen below!
