We met Chris at the iconic Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, where he runs their blooming Outdoor Activity Center (O.A.C). Post bike ride we settle in for a good talk over beers: despite the whole interview before edits being almost 2 hours, Chris' stories kept us on the edge of our seats with intrigue the whole conversation.

Travis White grew up in the U.P. and has cultivated his love for fishing from a young age. What started as a hobby has turned into Keweenaw Fishing Charters, where Travis shares his love of fishing (and extensive knowledge) with folks both living in and visiting the area. Being on the water has also led him to Captaining the Great Lakes Research Vessel based out of Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center. Pretty neat. After our interview we had the pleasure of going out onto the water with Travis and his partner Jane, to see what all the hype was about for ourselves. His passion for fishing is contagious, and now we're a little bit hooked on fishing, too.

She spends her summers living on Isle Royale with her husband and 9-year-old son. She discusses what it was like being a child herself and growing up on Isle Royale as well as the many life adventures that led her back to the Island.

Mike and Laura (besides giving us the scoop on pasties) listen and provide commentary as we tell the wild story of Angelique Mott, a young Anishinaabe woman who survives a harrowing winter on Isle Royale. This episode takes it back to the 1800s to show just how deep the roots of resilient women run.

Our second episode of the Keweenaw Logbook Podcast emphasizes the importance of family heritage + engaging your community in the outdoors. We skied and chatted with Keith and Julie Meyers on a verrryy cold day in February (cough cough 7 degrees Fahrenheit). We learned about his Finnish Grandmother and family heritage in Chassell Michigan, the extent of board memberships that one can undertake, and how critical space heaters are in the extreme cold.

Our first episode (woohoo!) of the Keweenaw Logbook podcast focuses on how finding your spot in the community can help you thrive. The TenHarmsels have traveled and farmed far and wide.  After finding their way all around the world proud they now call the Keweenaw Peninsula home. Ashley takes us through how they landed in Calumet and what life looks like for them as they have created their own small local farm. We talk sourdough and supporting your neighbors.
