Rally Finland Review + Tom's Toyota Co-Drive
Last weekend witnessed a truly incredible Rally Finland with WRC's best battling it out for the win. Today on Gravel Notes with Tom Howard he talks to all three podium teams - Tanak, Rovanpera and Lappi. We also hear how Hyundai ended Toyota's winning streak in Finland, and how the land of 1000 lakes was able to keep Lappi's car topped up with water after a massive shunt.
Stick around to the end of the podcast because Tom talks about an experience no mere mortal has any business doing - co-driving a top tier rally car alongside one of the worlds best drivers, as he calls the pace notes over 6 kilometres for Takamoto Katsuta in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 car. -
Alonso, Piastri, Aston and Alpine - Making Sense Of Driver Market Madness
Since Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement the driver market has moved at breakneck pace. Fernando Alonso was confirmed for a place at Aston Martin in 2023, which should have opened the door for an Alpine race seat for Formula 2 champ Oscar Piastri. However a bizarre set of public announcements saw the team confirm Piastri for '23, only for the driver to respond on social media saying he will not race at Alpine.
Joining Martyn Lee to discuss all news and possible implications are Matt Kew, Alex Kalinauckas and Luke Smith. -
Hungarian GP Review
Formula 1 heads into the Summer break with it’s reigning champ and title favourite eighty points ahead of his main rival. Max Verstappen started tenth, carved his way through the field, Red Bull strategists made bold calls and the RFB18 was the class of the pack.
Once again we saw both Mercedes on the podium, in a boost to the team before the summer break. And once again, we saw the Ferrari pit wall make questionable calls which put their drivers on the back foot.
Joining Martyn Lee to discuss today’s grand prix are Luke Smith, Jess McFadyen and Kevin Turner.
