Hello and welcome to Faversham Hypnotherapy.
I’m Neil Robson, I’m a hypnotherapist and specialise in GAD. Generalised Anxiety Disorder.
I run a clinic in Faversham Kent in the U.K. Faversham Hypnotherapy.
And with the introduction of the podcast I now see people all over the world through zoom.
With solely helping people with anxiety I’ve come to learn about all aspects of this disorder, we all have anxiety, it’s a built in natural defence system.
When people begin to experience an anxiety on a regular basis this is when we need to look at interventions to find the cause of the anxiety and mechanisms for people to control and reduce if not eliminate those thoughts and feelings connected with the anxiety.
The neuro science tells us that if you want to learn something, the best conditions are to be relaxed and motivated,
I only see people with anxiety so motivation is never an issue.
As a hypnotherapist it’s my job to facilitate a mental relaxation and as long as your motivated, even excited about changing that behaviour your going to do the work and notice the change.
Meditation or guided relaxation is a fantastic way to facilitate changes in thinking.
When we are mentally relaxed we begin to lower the barriers between our conscious and unconscious mind, the unconscious part of your mind holds the keys to most anxieties.
It’s the parts of the brain that looks after everything you do that’s automatic.
So muscle memory, bodily functions, heart and lungs and it also oversees behaviours including anxiety and anxiety response.
Hypnosis, meditation and guided visualisation all enable people to access the unconscious and change or improve thinking patterns in a relaxing process.
Make new or reconnect neuro pathways in your brain to lead to the behaviour and positive outcomes people are looking for.
Affirmations are all about repetition, when you repeat a thought pattern or a physical action you build strong neuro pathways in your brain for that action.
Learning to walk as an infant, walking becomes easy with repetition, until you don’t have to think about walking anymore.
It’s passed into the unconscious parts of your mind and has become an automatic process.
This is also why anxiety is a huge issue.
Once learned and the anxiety repeated, it passes into the unconscious as an automatic process just like walking.
Repeated listening to affirmations or meditations, build the neuro pathways, the relaxation can slow down the mind, quieten the billions of neurons that usually fire and give you an opportunity to change your thought processes.
