Sonja Radvila - Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, Bharatanatyam Dancer, Author and Explorer of Consciousness - Episode 9

Sonja Radvila - Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, Bharatanatyam Dancer, Author and Explorer of Consciousness - Episode 9

On today’s episode, Sonja Radvila talks about her path, from Indian classical dance to Ashtanga Yoga to the exploration of different self-inquiry practices to writing her book and creating intuitive prayer jewelry.

Sonja talks about the process of breaking out of the mould of the identity of ashtanga yogi, and how this allowed her to make space to receive what the ancient teachings have to offer.

She describes how her own practice has changed as she learned to listen to the body, moving away from the fixation with asana and instead prioritizing feeling good. She explained how practising from a caring place, and being softer and kinder to herself on the mat led her to grow in the other limbs of yoga.

Sonja then talks about the past two decades studying Indian classical dance and dancing as a way of serving something beyond yourself, allowing the divinity to come through by dissolving into the dance.

Then we talk about her book, Young Yogi and the Mind Monsters, and how it came about, the hurdles she faced throughout the process and what it is all about.

Sonja also talks about her exploration of other avenues to inquire into the truth of who we are, such as the Satori method — a meditative device to dive into the inquiry “Who am I?” — and plant medicine — which Sonja experienced as a gift for coming back into herself and tapping into her inner wisdom.

Yoga Nidrā with Federico Zanchetta | 30-minute guided meditation for deep relaxation | Episode 7

In today's episode, Haṭha Yoga teacher Federico Zanchetta offers a restorative and healing practice of Yoga Nidrā, a guided meditation that will take you into a state of deep relaxation, halfway between sleep and wakefulness.

The deep relaxation induced by Yoga Nidrā creates a calm and receptive state, conducive for revealing and releasing feelings that do not serve us, such as fear or anxiety.

    ABOUT FEDERICO ZANCHETTA:

Federico has been a student of Haṭha Yoga for half his life and a teacher under the Sivananda lineage for well over a decade. From the very start, Federico has felt that spreading yoga is his calling, as well as his duty; and he does so in a traditional way through authentic practice. He teaches āsana, prāṇāyāma, meditation and philosophy both at this yoga śālā in Ericeira, at the 108 House retreat center, and at workshops all over the world.

GUIDED MEDITATION FOR CHILDREN | A tool to help our children connect within during challenging times | Episode 5

A guided meditation for children, recorded by Maria Rita Furtado, both in English (episode 5) and in Portuguese (episode 6).

    .

Our children may be feeling anxious and restless (understandably) with everything that is happening around them, with how quickly everything is changing. This guided meditation was created especially for them by Maria Rita. It will help them quiet the noise in their little heads, tap into their little bodies, and open their little hearts.

    .

Please share it with friends and family who are parents and carers; who could use this tool to help their kids better deal with these challenging times.

    .

If you would like to receive an audio file just with Maria Rita's guided meditation for children, send an email to lets.talk@betweensadhanaandseva.com. We will be happy to forward it to you.

    .
