Welcome to Club Sandwich, the show with layers. Each week we interview musicians working day jobs in the service industry to make that cheddar. Together we build a figurative "club sandwich" made of the music that gets them through their shifts. If that doesn't make sense now, it will soon. So clock in, I'm your host Jack Wells.

    Jacob Miller

    Jacob Miller

Today's guest is Jacob Miller, a singer-songwriter with a minimalist pop sensibility that feels timeless. After 7 years of leading a jazz sextet, his chops on guitar are smooth, yet dynamic. His departure from the swing-dancing show days, to the more intimate performances show discipline and a new found exploration in lyricism. He has toured extensively through America and Europe and recently appeared on NBC's The Voice working with Nick Jonas and James Taylor. Let's see what's next on Jacob's musical journey, welcome to the show!

    Chris Hermsen

    Chris Hermsen

Today's guest is Chris Hermsen. In my opinion, one of the best drummers I have seen hit the stage. From watching him play in Portland staples such as Sama Dams, to the dialed-in eccentric live show of Schaus, Chris shines with a special finesse to the kit. On the side he used to manage Baby Doll Pizza, one of the best slices in town. The rhythm is gunna getcha today. Chris welcome to the show.

    Strum

    Strum

Today's guest is Michael Krasovech, owner of Strum, the not-so-traditional guitar shop with a stocked beer bar, weekend shows and two adorable shop dogs. Michael and his family have created a place that connects instruments with players. Any given day you can roll into Strum, grab a beer and see all walks of life in the Portland community hanging out. Occasionally Michael takes a break from guitar repairs and plays guitar in the Portland based classic country group The Oregon Trailers. Before Strum, Michael played and toured in the Chicago based rockabilly, retro-country group The Riptones. We are recording this episode live on scene in Strum, forgive the wonky audio. Michael welcome to the show.

    Yawning

    Yawning

Today's guest is Dillon Bartell, bass player and front man of the Portland based indie band Yawning. Synthy, jazzy, thought-bending songs that move flawlessly with groovy bass lines, Yawning breathes a breath of fresh air into the city. You may also find Dillon spinning records at some underground parties, invite only events or some east side bars around town. Dillon welcome to the show.

    Fixer

    Fixer

This week's guest is Matt Langlais of the band Fixer and Cape Chacon. Matt writes, produces and mixes his songs all from home to deliver a indie lo-fi pop sound that gives you all the feels. With tones that are reminiscent of Pavement, but still feel fresh and unique, Fixer brings back rock music with a new perspective. Matt welcome to the show.

    Matt Dorrien

    Matt Dorrien

This week’s guest is Matt Dorrien, a lonely-hearted, whiskey-sippin’, piano ticklin’ singer-songwriter based in Portland, OR. You may have seen his performance on KEXP or caught a show on tour with grammy nominee and label mate Courtney Marie Andrews. His songs are a time capsule. Is it 1973? Did Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson have a baby? Let’s drown our sorrows to one of my favorite musicians/ bartenders in town, Matt Dorrien. Welcome to the club.
