Welcome Everyday Heroes, I’m Bert Botta, the creator of the Everyday Heroes podcast series and welcome. One day about 3 years ago I experienced something that would forever change how I look at relationships! Here's what happened …I was the editor of the Private Jet Pilots newsletter and I was doing interviews for pilot profiles in the newsletter. I’ve always been a “people person” but so much of the time my relationships were like “Hey, how you doing, gotta run!” That usually left me wanting more. But during the interviews, I got to really know my fellow pilots, I discovered how much I really enjoyed getting to know them on a more personal level by working with them that way. That feeling of connection made me realize that I found something that I’ve always been good at, connecting people with something that I really enjoyed doing, TURNING INTERVIEWS INTO PODCASTS that connect everyone, the guys and gals who I interview with the ones who listen to my podcasts and me! Perfect! Long story short, everyone wins! My podcasts are more than random stories; they are powerful messages of entertainment, hope, education, connection, and community for my listeners, especially for those of us in the aviation community. You can listen to the podcasts by clicking the Subscribe button below; it’s FREE and you’ll be able to hear a new and different podcast that comes out every Tuesday, 9 am Pacific time. And if you have a story that needs telling, let me know and we’ll make you the next Everyday Hero! Bert

The Good Ole Days of Aviation: A TWA Flight Attendant Survives Her Exotic Vacation!

The Good Ole Days of Aviation: A TWA Flight Attendant Survives Her Exotic Vacation!

If you consider falling in love with an Orangutan over lunch “ordinary” then you might find these stories “ordinary” but I doubt it!
This is an "insiders" look at how airline employees used to travel in the good ole days, before Covid, fax machines and mandatory reservations!

Cindy and her husband, Bart were fellow airline employees back in the day when we could  jump on and off flights to get anywhere in the world, for free!

They have traveled around the world and have seen more in their travels than ten other couples combined!
You’ll hear how they traveled, with no reservations, just winging it and how that sometimes got them in pretty serious trouble!
Like when they had a flat tire in the middle of the African savannah in their sophisticated safari vehicle, a tiny Datsun 210, in the middle of a pride of lions.
And how Cindy kept watch, out the window, as Bart got out of the car to change the tire!
Then it was love at first sight in Singapore for Cindy, when she fell in love with an Orangutan over lunch!
These are stories from what I call “The Glory Days of Aviation” when travel was a true 1st Class adventure, complete with 5 course meals crossing the pond to Europe and beyond.
If you dare to be jealous at how we traveled, “free as birds” in the good ole days, then you’ll love Cindy’s book, ‘Life on Standby’.
You can find it on Amazon…

    (18) Why Does Sin Taste Good to This Corporate Flight Attendant!?

    (18) Why Does Sin Taste Good to This Corporate Flight Attendant!?

This doesn't make any sense! Why would "Sin Taste Good" to this gifted corporate flight attendant!

Relax, this isn't going to be some steamy look at the secret life of flight attendants! It's merely the title of her new book!

But you're going to be moved by the wave of miracles that led to her landing a plum corporate jet flight attendant job with absolutely no experience!

You other corporate flight attendants will know how tough that is and how seldom it happens without divine help!

And you probably can't wait to hear why she named her book "Sin Tastes Good" so listen up to her tell the story.
I met Reina through my friendship with Christina Brown, a corporate flight attendant who started the Aviation Wellness online community.
We start out with her talking about being raised in the country of Brunei, where her father flew the Sultan of Brunei’s corporate jet and where she hung out with the princes and princesses in that country.
She did that job for 5 years and it took her around the world, laying over for 6 weeks at a time in places like southern France, writing her book and singing in a church that she stumbled across during one of her fabulous layovers.

One of the powerful parts of her interview is when she talks about how to have peace in the midst of the furlough chaos that has taken place in the aviation industry and how her peace principles apply in any other circumstance for that matter.

That part of her interview reminded me very much of one of the Ebooks I’m creating with a co-author on Amazon titled "How to Maintain Calm Amidst Increasing Chaos." It’s the start of a series that spins off into Calm Amidst Aviation Chaos, Calm Amidst Entrepreneurial Chaos, etc.  You  can check it out here: http://amzn.to/3hFF7Yr
I get inspired by all the people I interview but my time with Reina was very special in the way she describes her life and the application of the principles in her book; it hit me hard, maybe because of what we’re all going through right now.
You'll hear about her relationship with Rabbi Daniel Lapin and his book "Thou Shalt Prosper"; it’s definitely on my to-read list as well as Reina’s, "Sin Tastes Good" (Come on, how could you pass up a book with a title like that!?)
So kick back, take a deep breath and set aside about 30 minutes, to hear about  the miracles that show up for Reina and how you can apply them to your own life.

You can  contact and follow her on her website at: www.reina-rose.com, on Twitter @ReinaRoseTv, on Instagram at reina_rose_tv and on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/reinarose17
And let me know if you like her interview and podcast by sending an email to me at botajet@gmail.com or leave me a message on my website, www.bertbotta.com
And, know for sure that if you’re listening to this you’re definitely one of my Everyday Heroes!
See you on the road or in the skies, I'll know you even with your mask on...

    (17) Heart Surgeon Turns Into Flying Fanatic!

    (17) Heart Surgeon Turns Into Flying Fanatic!

Hi Heroes, but especially you NorCal, Marin and Sonoma County aviator-type heroes!

This is Bert, and I have a special interview for you today.

You've heard of the flying doctors but this guy is not your ordinary, garden variety flying doctor.

Doctor Jon's  medical career took a few unexpected turns and landed him as CEO of a very large company that in turn led to him finally being able to indulge his passion for aviation.

And, lucky for us, he's landed here in Marin County, at Scanlon Aviation at Gnoss Field with  not just his passion for flying but wanting also to include anyone with a similar passion to join him.

But I'm getting ahead of myself...
Just listening to his story was pure inspiration for me, especially how he doubled down, working 100 to 120 hours a week as a doctor while attending graduate school for an MBA.

Then he switched gears from medicine to finding himself as the CEO of a high priced pharmaceutical company, having to refer to his graduate school notes to learn how to run the company!

Even though I've been pretty successful in a couple of different careers I'm always blown away by guys with big brains and big hearts like Dr. Jon,  and his ability to juggle a few, very difficult projects at once and come out smiling.
You’re going to hear how he went from practicing cardiology to him being CEO of a major corporation and, for my aviation listeners, how that journey landed him owning a few, very special Cirrus SR series aircraft,  the Lamborghini’s of light aircraft, at Scanlon Aviation.

And, if you're the kind of a person who enjoys "paying if forward" you'll want to  take notes because you’re going to hear how he went from working long hours as a doctor for very little money and in some cases, none, to finally “livin’ the dream”, owning these neat aircraft and sharing his passion with anyone who's interested.
Then toward the end of the interview you’ll hear how he's taking that passion as an aviation entrepreneur to now advocating for building an aviation community at Gnoss Field, where he flies out of.
Listen up, enjoy his story and come check us out at Scanlon Aviation in Novato because you might even get some very cool aviation tips from Dr. Jon in person!

    (16) Listen to how the King of Amazon Ebook Publishing Created a Publishing Empire!

    (16) Listen to how the King of Amazon Ebook Publishing Created a Publishing Empire!

Hi my Everyday Heroes, I make no apologies for the unusual length of this interview with "King" Cohen because it's so loaded with valuable personal and professional information.

It's especially important if you know of someone who's hurting for money or you know of a kid who's confused about his or her path in life and wants something outside "the system" that will give them a fantastic career without having to spend thousands of $$$$ going to college and still coming out confused!

I say this because Ty’s 16 year old son has his own Amazon eBook business using the same techniques as taught in this program.
This is a special interview that I did with a very successful young guy who I call King Cohen. Ty Cohen is a young guy who I’ve known for a long time and who has built a literal empire on Amazon, publishing ebooks, short ebooks, long ebooks, all kinds of ebooks.

In our interview he talks about how he creates those elusive "multiple streams of income" in addition and so much more.
Over the past ten years he’s built a powerful publishing system that gives people the tools to build a serious business, by creating these eBooks on Amazon.
Ty's interview is as much about you enjoying a spontaneous, fun chat between an old white dude and a sharp, young black man and the fun we have talking about what makes us so similar instead of how we’re different as it is about the beginnings and future of Kindle Cash Flow.

In the process you'll hear the depth of what Ty has created, how he did it and how just about anybody can do the same.
So enjoy our chat and here’s my affiliate link https://bit.ly/2J9MgmF  to Ty’s Kindle Cash Flow publishing program should you want more information on how to sign up for this unique, "side hack" for making money and have a ball doing it in a community of like-minded friends!
Or hit me up here, botajet@gmail.com and I'll answer any questions you might have. #KCF #KindleCashFlow, https://www.bertbotta.com

    (15) Unprecedented! A Pilot Overcomes Diabetes and Returns to the Cockpit!

    (15) Unprecedented! A Pilot Overcomes Diabetes and Returns to the Cockpit!

Heroes, this used to be the "kiss of death" for pilots! Diabetes has for a long time been disqualifying for a pilot to continue flying.

In Pietro's story you'll hear about what he had to go through, after learning he was diabetic at 21 years old, especially since he had been actively flying and his life came to a screeching halt after this discovery.

You'll hear how he had to fight his way back to health and in the process, did a ton of research that led to the FAA completely changing the protocol that they require for a pilot to continue flying with diabetes.

But very soon into his fight to remain in the cockpit he realized that this was much more than him trying to maintain his license; it was a fight for all the young pilots, and general population, who come after him who have felt hopeless in their fight for health.

Hear how he describes that, as a kid he was able to "eat all the good stuff, like pizza and cake" and how that all came crashing down as he helps discover an amazing technological breakthrough to treat diabetes, a device called a "continuous glucose monitor."

But I'll let Pietro tell you his story in this interview and if you know of anyone who needs to hear of this technology, please refer them to me at: botajet@gmail.com

    Here's to your amazing health,

    Bert
