Planet and Sky: The Deeper Story Joel McKinnon: Musician and podcaster

Prologue to the deeper story behind the lyrics of Planet and Sky, a rock opera, composed by Joel McKinnon and performed by the Max Wyvern Band.

A woman and a man are reborn as Planet and Sky. Planet thinks he is alone and perfect. Sky informs him of her presence and convinces him of the value of their union as a single world.

A rescue party attempts to find the missing explorers and instead finds themselves transformed into primitive beings traveling through deep space en route to an uncertain future.

Planet and Sky are young and full of energy. Beneath the surface tectonic plates are colliding, creating earthquakes and volcanoes. Above, amidst Sky's powerful storms, meteors and comets are bombarding the surface. One of these arrivals contains the seeds of life.

Planet sings a song expounding upon all the ways he loves his dear companion, the ever-present Sky. She intrudes upon his song briefly to air her concern for their distant future.

The three travelers debate the significance of a changing pattern in the climate towards colder weather. The first is optimistic, but the second insistent they are now threatened, and the third retains its usual contentment.
