    The remarkable life of Marian Ion Ionescu (1929-2023)

    In this episode we discuss the fascinating life and achievements of Marian Ion Ionescu, inventor of the pericardial heart valve.  He was a surgeon, an innovator, an educator and so much more.  Here to give us a glimpse into his life is good friend and colleague John McKenna.  John has an extensive career in the medical device industry and was been part of the valve development journey with Marian & Christina Ionescu from the Shiley Corporation onwards.   It has been a pleasure to learn more about this pioneer in cardiac surgery whose tireless efforts in valve development continue to support patients to this day.
