    This week we are honored to chat with American Breaststroke legend, Brendan Hansen! Brendan had an illustrious career at the University of Texas winning the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at NCAA's all four years of college, becoming the first swimmer to ever accomplish that feat. Brendan then went on to represent the United States at 3 Olympic Games, winning numerous medals and breaking world record after world-record along the way. Following his retirement in 2012, Brendan worked in the corporate world for a short time before returning to his roots and becoming a coach at Austin Swim Club where he coached numerous swimmers to national-level meets. Today, Brendan serves as the Director of Team Services for USA Swimming! We hope you enjoy!

    This week we are happy to welcome three-time Olympian Anthony Ervin to the podcast! Anthony has one of the most unique swimming journeys of all time in that he went 16 years between winning his Olympic Gold Medals! 16 YEARS! Anthony won his first gold medal in the 50 freestyle at the age of 19 at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and then won another individual gold in the 50 freestyle at age 35 at the 2016 Rio Olympics.     Eddie Reese

    Eddie Reese

    This week we are honored to welcome the first coach to the Ultimate Swimmer Podcast, Eddie Reese! Eddie Reese is the most decorated swim coach in history with 14 NCAA National Championship Team Titles. Eddie started his coaching career at Roswell High School in New Mexico. One year later he accepted an assistant coaching job with his alma mater at the University of Florida, where he spent six seasons before heading to Auburn where he was head coach for another six seasons. After Auburn, Eddie took the job at Texas and the rest is history. Eddie has been the head coach for the Texas Longhorns since 1978 and considered not only one of the greatest swim coaches ever, but one of the greatest coaches in any sport. Eddie’s leadership, positivity, and commitment to his athletes have allowed him to produce some of the world's fastest swimmers, including 39 Olympic Gold Medals!     Kristy Kowal

    Kristy Kowal is one of the greatest breaststrokers in American history. She competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and took home a silver medal in the 200 Breaststroke. Kristy also was the first American woman to win a world championship title in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1998. A University of Georgia graduate and two-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year (1999, 2000), Kristy was also the first woman in history to break the 1-minute barrier in the short course yards 100 breaststroke. Kristy’s story is inspiring and we had a blast getting to talk with her about her experiences on her journey to becoming an Ultimate Swimmer!

    Michael Andrew

    Michael Andrew

    Michael Andrew is a young, up-and-coming superstar in the swimming world. Michael, now 21, has broken over 100 National Age Group Records in his short career and gained notoriety by turning pro at just 14 years old! Trained by his dad Peter Andrew, Michael's career has taken off due largely to his innovative training techniques, family-first attitude, and his ability to graciously accept both victory and defeat.     Will Licon, a former Texas Longhorn, is an 11-time NCAA Champion and is one of only four college swimmers in history to win 4 individual NCAA titles in 4 separate events during their career. Will is the current American Record holder in 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:47.91; if you don't know, that is INSANELY FAST!!!!
