20 Weeks Pregnant, Amanda Had All The Symptoms Of Bowel Cancer

Unprocessed by I Quit Sugar

Bowel cancer is one of the most common and deadly forms of cancer in Australia, with around 1 in 15 people developing it during their lifetime. It can affect both men and women of any age, although some cases may be hereditary or due to family history. Early detection and prevention are essential for increasing survival rates, so it’s important to be aware of the risks associated with bowel cancer. Symptoms may include changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain or discomfort, blood in stools/toilet bowl water, unexplained weight loss or fatigue and anemia.

In Today’s episode Clara & Grace sat down with Amanda who was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer at 32, her baby was 9 weeks old, and she was desperately just trying to soak up every minute of the newborn phase. Instead, she spent nearly every waking minute in absolute agony and constantly at the Doctor’s looking for answers to her pain.

We are also joined by Professor Teresa Mitchell-Paterson, an exemplary example of a highly qualified nutritionist who has dedicated her life to helping others. She received her Masters of Health Science in Human Nutrition and now works as a member of Bowel Cancer Australia's patient services team. On top of that, she is also a survivor of bowel cancer herself
