Pizza and Fairytales: Ep 5 Make It Right

Pizza and Fairytales: Ep 5 Make It Right

‘Pizza and Fairytales’ is John Lennon’s phrase— a brilliant one—and he conjured it to describe one man: Paul McCartney.

John in the 70s is fairly well documented. But what about the less communicative, less examined half of Lennon/McCartney? In this episode, Phoebe and Daphne give McCartney two things he doesn’t often get: detailed lyrical analysis and recognition of his atypical self-expression. Extending this basic respect serves to shine a brighter, warmer light on the Lennon/McCartney relationship—not just in the 70s but up to present day and beyond.

Lennon and McCartney will be joined forever; they deserve to have their true story told.

Brilliant and funny

This and One Sweet Dream are wonderful podcasts. The hosts are hilarious, smart, well-informed and riff off each other brilliantly. The Beatles’ story has been almost exclusively told by men now in their sixties and seventies, and a more nuanced and emotionally intelligent approach was long overdue. Maybe a little Paul-centric but that corrective was needed.

Intelligent View

Finally, a strong examination and
deeper exploration into the factors and motivations that lead to the break up. Comprehensive researched and a interesting and deeper psychological view provided and a welcome step away from the event type ‘prose’ often connected to the breakup.

Ridiculous Theory Grandstanding killed It For Me

Sorry girls, but your ridiculous theory about Lennon's unrequited love/lust for Macca being the catalyst for the breakup of the Beatles & beyond killed any respect I had for you. Plus, you putting the boots into anyone who believed in the status quo telling of the breakup. This 'fresh' look went off very quickly. Try again when you get a new theory.
