In our latest podcast the interviewee is Jane Cunningham, co-founder of Pretty Little Head. Series Two of APG's Podcast continues looking at how to put people back into planning. Eminent psychologist and author of the Mind is Flat, Nick Chater spoke to Bogdana Butnar on behalf of the APG. This is a riveting 45 minutes of conversation with some profound and provocative implications for the way we think about value, consumer decision making and the 'false' god of intuition.

We’re kicking off series 2 with a series of podcasts looking at how to put people back into planning. We will be exploring everything from cultural immersion and new research techniques powered by data to the impact of semiotics, and the uses and misuses of Big Data to understand what makes people tick. For our first episode, we spoke to Dougal Shaw.

A Cambridge graduate, Dougal joined the BBC as a researcher and trained himself to become a new breed of journalist, one whose primary tool is his mobile phone. We thought Dougal would make a perfect first guest not only because he interrogates and immerses himself in modern culture but also because his unmediated relationship with his subjects can teach us about new techniques of observation and insight discovery. Finally, we also enjoyed his frank musings on popular and digital culture and we hope you'll find those valuable too.

On 8th October 2018, we held our annual Strategy Conference focusing on 'Contrarian Thinking'. Among the speakers, included Margaret Heffernan, an international businesswoman, author, interviewer, and TED speaker.

Just a few of the practical pieces of advice she gave included:

-Ensure you have real friends at work not just colleagues.
-Get enough sleep as it is the bedrock of mental wellbeing.
-Accept that collaborations are not always harmonious – the best ones are often scrappy in the quest to do something great and a nay-sayer can crystalise your thinking most effectively.
-Be willing to speak up if you see things that you don’t believe should be happening.
-Be open to the fact that you might not be right and be open to asking searching questions.
-What would we see if we were wrong?
