Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

Flightless bird and team

I love listening to David talk about all the things that make him or do not make him more American! It’s so relatable. I’m from Australia and each thing he has spoken about is the same for an Aussie. We have a lot of American shows on that it’s hard not to believe that every American is how we see them in the shows we watch. Like how Aussies own a Kangaroo as a pet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Flightless bird

The episode about RVs was really beautiful and interesting except for the parts with the cop who owns a coach (bus). Looking forward to the episode on leaf blowers. It should be noted that many places in New Zealand have gross shower curtains and David may have lived a sheltered life in regard to shower curtains/doors in Aotearoa. I rate this 5/5 electric kettles

Everything but Dax

The guests are entirely what holds this together.(2 stars) Monica Mouse (1 star) is grounding and sometimes succeeds in tethering the ginormous ego that is Dax to earth…by bringing an alternative perspective.

Dax is a full package douchbag. No matter who comes on he feels entitled to tell them who they are and what they should do. There are multiple cringe moments each episode where he displays his full glory arrogance and delusion. Some warped unconscious misogyny and self obsession. His ‘gift’ is making it all about himself. He could do it even if the guest was a queer black woman. The guy needs help more than a platform. Perhaps an intensive with Ester Perel and Brene Brown if they’d have him. Alternatively just sit him in front of a mirror and he’d stay there for days and leave the public free from his opinions.

When I listen to smartless the guests start with a genuine I love your show! Only the ‘chairies’ do that here. That says a lot.

Also,I don’t like how the apps force you into the other programs- flightless can be endearing but the other one is of no interest and having to wade thru it is a poor customer experience.
