I’ve been following Jodi on socials for years now—since I purchased her second book The Five Year Plan. The information Jodi provides on the podcast is informative and helpful. Her knowledge of the writing craft is indepth. I love the concept and when I listen I learn something new, or I am reminded of others craft elements and advice. Her vocal tone is easy and sooting to listen to and she presents the information with clarity and finese. I look forward for each new episode to drop. A fan for life 🌸⭐️❤️ Valerie

Jen! (Q54: should I edit as I go) I edit as I go because, for me, ‘writer’s block’ is when my brain knows I’ve screwed the story somewhere and I have to go back and fix it otherwise I *cannot* go on. “Often, writer’s block happens to you because somewhere in your work you’ve lied to yourself and your subconscious won’t let you go any further until you’ve gone back, erased the lie, stated the truth and started over.” Now, Jose Rivera is a playwright, but for me, this still stands. Continuing to write when what has come before no longer makes sense to me does not work for me. Right now I’m struggling to write my final 3 scenes of a 2nd draft because I know something is ‘broken’ further up the line. This time I’m trying to push through because it’s only 3 scenes (albeit 3 crucial final scenes!) And now I’m stuck! I know what I have to write, but something feels off so I’m finding it very difficult. There are different reasons for editing as you go, and it’s not all because ‘you’ll have a more finished draft when you’re done’.
Always insightful
