Talking drugs with Rod Bridge
Today we talk with Rod Bridge who founded the organisation, Sideffect.
From their website -
"Sideffect was started by our founder, Rodney Bridge, after the death of his beautifully talented and generous son, Preston. Preston died at the age of 16, after taking a synthetic form of LSD in February 2013, during his school ball after party. Following his family tragedy, Rod found out that the LSD substance was made up of 25inBome as well as a shopping list of other synthetic drugs. Preston lost his life that night based on one choice and had he known what he was taking, he would have made an entirely different decision. Sideffect was born out of that understanding, that our youth need to be educated on substance use and be empowered to make informed decisions, with the help of parents, teachers, and their community."
Points in the conversation to note:
In 2018 Sideffect reached 105,000 students across Western Australia.
Being educated as a parent on drugs is so important in order to start a conversation.
Early intervention is key in the fight against drugs.

A domestic violence run down with Maria.
Today we have a prerecorded episode thanks to a partner of ours, HNT Legal, on domestic violence (DV).
Maria from HNT Legal talks us through the various aspects of DV and why we need to talk more about it.
Maria also talks about why you should seek legal advice when involved in DV.
3 value bombs dropped by Maria:
1. Why you should seek legal advice before consenting to an AVO.
2. How the Kennon Adjustment needs to be raised early in your court hearing.
3. We need to talk about Family and domestic violence with someone. Don't keep them to yourself. Seek support.

Great help for dads
I love these podcasts as they have male mental health at the forefront! We need to keep these conversations going as they do make a difference. Keep up the good work!
A brilliant resource for dads all over, I would think not just Australian dads. Great informative chats led by Liam. Well done, I’ll tune into some more.
