I had the privilege of welcoming Imam Muhsin Hendricks onto my show, to talk about his brave decision to come out as queer (his preference) in the Muslim community and understanding compassion-centred Islam.

The Imam serves as worship and community leader for the 1st LGBTIQ-friendly mosque in South Africa.

As Brendan says, "you don't have a right to be different, you have an obligation...and it's not only about embracing who you were born to be, but dealing with the lucky packet you're dealt with."

Our conversation sheds light on the secret to his success as a beloved role model and drag queen - Cathy Specific - whilst he lives an authentic life as Brendan, by balancing the tricky, yet simplistic art of keeping both separate.

 He holds true to his favourite quote from a woman he greatly admired, Eleanor Roosevelt: "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."

A conversation with Lenerd Louw - an ex corporate, millionaire playboy who went from copious amounts of sex, drugs and debauched living, to giving it all up without planning to embark on an "epic travel and soul adventure."  

He took the expression work hard/play hard to the extreme.
