127: All things Energy: Finding harmony between our masculine and feminine energies using the Enneagram
Today we’re talking all things energy.
The more development you do, the more you can fall in love with someone’s energy.
Recognizing energy is one of my gifts.
And I work to recognize it in others and in myself. Here’s one thing I’ve learned: Having a harmonious balance between the masculine and feminine energy is oh-so important.
With the Enneagram, sometimes our basic type tools don’t work.
And that’s why we have beautiful things like the Wings, Subtypes, Growth Numbers, Stress Numbers, and more. The same is true for masculine and feminine energy.
Here’s what the Enneagram has to do with energy.
The Enneagram has really been a tool for me to navigate the harmony between my masculine and feminine. From age six on, I lived in my masculine energy—it protected me. But it ended up doing more harm than good because it wasn’t coming from a good place (fear, stress, etc.).
In this episode, I break down why the Enneagram is the secret sauce for finding harmony between these two powerful energies.
The more development you do, the more you have the ability to fall in love with somebody’s else’s energy.
We each have our super powers, and when it’s coming from love, compassion, empathy, grace, service that’s when it’s a super power but that same super power can become a wrecking ball.
When you have feminine energy, it is dynamic, it flows.
That feminine energy does not fear the shadows.
Another way to look at the masculine is as knowledge where as the feminine energy is that inner knowing.
The masculine energy is the master of planning and laying out the guidelines that are based on logic and experience.
Another beautiful gift of the masculine energy is righteousness, the masculine does the right thing even if it means more hardship.
The thing about the 7’s, even though they are more of an assertive type, anything is possible in a 7’s mind.
The goal is whatever your dominant energy tends to be to learn how to access the other energy.
It’s just like everything when you have a guide it makes it an easier process, but it doesn’t mean you're not going to be resistant.
126: Growth Numbers in the Framework of the Enneagram: Are you avoiding growth? Here’s why it’s so important
Let me guess...
You’ve been following all of these amazing, informational Enneagram teachers.
You’ve screenshotted their content, shared it in your stories, talk about it at parties...
I get it—I’m obsessed too. However, is it moving the needle like you want it to? If you’re just sharing memes, you’re leaving a lot of amazing shit on the table that could really help you change your life.
I use the Enneagram like a machine—and so can you.
And I believe Growth Numbers are the most underrated part of the Enneagram—especially as a leader. In fact, I use Growth Numbers more often than I use the actual Enneagram type. Because it’s in growth that we can achieve the radical changes that we want.
Growth is hard.
I don’t care how well you see the big picture, growth is tough. There are lots of twists and turns. That’s because there’s a whole bunch of shit you have to trudge through before you can come out on the other side and GROW. Which is why many of us avoid growth altogether. But the more you grow, the more you can embody the other 8 Enneagram types.
I utilize the growth numbers actually more than the Enneagram type, because it’s in the real growth that we can really have the radical changes that we want.
When we are growing there is going to be uncomfortableness but we resist it.
The more you grow, the more you can embody the other Enneagram 8 types not just your own.
Sometimes I need to check into my wing a little bit to see the bigger picture so I’m not as resistant to growing into the 2.
When people find you credible and can trust you, what do they do? They hire you for them, their families, their teams, for their businesses...
When all the crappy sh*t comes out, it’s usually the scared little kid inside all of us.
Structure here might be actually good for being
my most authentic self.
The 9 takes on the healthy 3 you know the Competitor, the Achiever. The 9 is the last person that wants to do that naturally.
Information doesn’t equal transformation—you got to know what to do with it.
I would love for you to use this tool in your life, it really provides framework that takes the complication out of so much of this sh*t.
125: Using the Enneagram for TRUE and Sustainable Healing so that you can live the life you desire
I learned at a young age that I couldn’t rely on the people I was meant to.
Which is why I have operated like a lone wolf for most of my life.
I’ve been pretty successful at this, but am missing out on a lot of joy.
I also use a lot of my energetic resources doing things that aren’t naturally in my wheelhouse. This can energetically bankrupt me, meaning I’m not good for the people I care about the most or for myself.
We see it all the time, everywhere: “All you need is self love & care.”
I get this in theory. But if self care—like a spa day or hitting the golf course—was all it took to be successful, then shit, who wouldn’t do that?
Here’s the problem & how the Enneagram can help.
If, like me, you took a hit to the heart early on in your life, there can be underlying beliefs about self love and care and why you aren’t deserving of it. You have to heal from those scars before you can have true success.
So, before you experience true self love and care, you might need to re-break your own heart first—like you would a broken arm—in order to heal and get to where you want to be. The Enneagram can help with this.
A lot of the sh*t that we really take and apply, we had to learn through mistakes, bad decisions, the hard way, and by having a guide.
If we just loved ourselves more we would make decisions based on that.
Until you allow yourself to feel the things, you carry the belief of what love and care is into your life.
Sometimes we have to go and rebreak our heart a little bit, so that it can heal properly, so that when we do say words like ‘self love’ and ‘self care,’ we know that it’s at its most beautiful state.
When it feels like the pain is going to be too much, you have a road map to get back on your soul’s path.
No matter how much work I do on myself, there’s always a day that a new level of growth is right around the corner.
Emotional intelligence is everything and the Enneagram and integration of it and the framework of it really can help you master it.
Instead of self love and self care, I use the word self honor. Cause love and care can be very subjective to whatever you experienced.
When I use care, I go to neglect and abandonment. So, to ask for what I need feels very scary at times but when I think about what would I do if I was self honoring right now...
Having a guide that has not only walked her talk but continues to do it for herself, her family, for her businesses, for other people, for businesses, organization, let me guide you through the process.
124: Let’s Talk Business: Sales & Marketing 101 and How to Market and speak the language of All Enneagram Types
Let’s talk about your business.
I’m constantly asked about one thing in particular when it comes to business: sales and marketing.
I’ve come to realize I’m pretty good at this whole sales & marketing thing.
And that’s because I’m genuine. But I had to reframe what I thought about sales and marketing before I could get there. I used to sell cars, and car salesmen get a really s****y wrap. The same goes for network marketers.
Here’s the thing: Sales & marketing is all about solving problems for people.
I will only share what I believe in 100%. I won’t share something if I don’t believe I can help you solve a problem in your life. I’m good because I’m no b******t.
Real stuff, no fluff.
I know a lot of you struggle with sales and marketing. But here’s the thing: If you believe in your heart that what you’re selling can solve problems for people, then you’re obligated to share it. And how you share it matters.
Thankfully, you can leverage the Enneagram to talk to all of the 9 Enneagram types within your ideal client base.
Sometimes we are just selling our story to inspire people. Even if it’s just for impact, it’s still selling.
I don’t talk about anything I don’t believe in 100 percent.
Each Enneagram type is motivated by a very specific thing.
If you don’t speak my language, I’m probably not gonna pay attention and I might not find you credible.
For a 2, they wanna know that they’re going to have significance in what they do for other people.
There’s this fine line of knowing that, your messaging and the problem you solve need to touch on truth, protection, justice, significance and certainty— this will allow you to touch the full range of your ideal customer or client.
You want your ideal client to think of you as not only the person that can solve their problem but the person that speaks their language.
Information doesn’t equal transformation.
The Enneagram is way more than a labeling system, it is a beautiful tool that can transform your life.
Solving problems is everything when it comes to sales and marketing.
123: The Sweet Spot to your Personal Growth that no one is talking about and how the Enneagram can make the messy parts matter even more
The Enneagram is the greatest personal development tool I’ve ever used.
Issues with the Enneagram, however, include mistyping, not using it in integrity, or not using it how it’s meant to be used.
More than ever, we’re aware that shit’s gotta change in our life.
Self awareness is so, so important, but only works if we know what to do with it. In the world we live in today, we’re aware there’s a problem—that something’s gotta give, that something needs to change, that something isn’t working as well as we would like it to.
Everything is marketed as: If you do this, then I can solve your problem.
Awareness is step one, and when we become aware, oftentimes we want the quick fix. But there’s a middle part that on one’s talking about. And this is where true, sustainable transformation happens.
If we don’t understand how and why we are where we are, we’re just kicking the can down the street.
The middle part, acknowledgement, is there to help us connect the dots—not to linger there, put ourselves back in the pit, or beat ourselves up more. By looking back, we can reverse engineer how and why we do what we do.
The one downfall and the one problem with the enneagram is the amount of mistyping that goes on or maybe not using it in integrity.
You have to be aware before you can change anything, but I think so often we are aware and then we just want a very rapid action.
We have to look back to connect the dots so that we can make sense and really reverse engineer the how and why we do what we do.
So often our heart gets broken early on, little things along the way, sometimes big things, sometimes a cumulation of things. And unfortunately along the way it doesn’t get set properly so our heart is kind of pieced together in a way that just gets by.
Sometimes we have to look back and re-break our heart a little bit so that we can set it properly.
It’s not hard, it hurts for moments but to have the longevity of a free operating, unguarded, wildly passionate heart is so worth it to connect the dots.
This is the problem with personal development today. We have this awareness that something is up, now who can sell me the course, the infomercial, the quick fix to make this go away.
I can’t promise you how long it’s going to take but I can promise you this, that the transformation, the growth, the love, the abundance, everything that you are searching for is in this acknowledgment peice.
If we don’t feel it, we can’t heal it, and if you don’t heal it, you’re going to be operating in damage control all the time.
I would be honored to take you through the journey to really put the pieces together, piece your heart back together so that you can have everything that you want.
122: Dealing with Your Insecurities using the Enneagram
I don’t care if you know your type...
...or even work with the Enneagram professionally—this stuff is hard. Personal development and self growth and doing the work is never for the weary.
I was originally mistyped as a 3.
And me and 3s did not get along. I viewed a lot of them as weak for needing attention and low-key was envious that they made things look easy—especially when it came to vulnerability.
My friend Tiffany has a hard time letting people take care of her.
But when we were together in California recently, I was cooking and cleaning for her, and in exchange, she helped me with strategy for my business, because I am the worst self-marketer of all time. You know who’s good at marketing? 3s.
But as an 8, I don’t like to be questioned.
And that’s what Tiffany did: she asked me questions about a new program I want to offer, how it should be structured based on my current programs, etc. etc...
Tiffany is a 6, the Loyalist, and naturally asks a lot of questions. And when she goes into interrogation mode—which comes from a good place—I get triggered. It makes me feel weak, and like I don’t have things handled.
Listen to this week’s episode to learn what I realized...
Personal development and self growth and doing the “work” on ourselves is never for the weary.
I know that there is more for me to do with all of you.
Using the Enneagram has allowed me to be a great marketer but I am terrible self- marketer.
As an Enneagram 8, I assume if you’re asking me tons of questions that you think I’m weak and don’t have this handled and that is like the death of an 8.
I know, without a question or a doubt that I am the very best at what I do.
All my 6’s out there you guys are like prepared for worst case scenario 5x over.
Sometimes we joke about things and poke fun at ourselves to hide some of our most insecure moments.
We are all going to be messy at first at things, even things that we are really good at.
Each Enneagram type has something that is an insecurity that holds us back.
I like to have you not see me coming, that’s where I feel most comfortable, and that being said I also know that being our most comfortable won’t allow things to grow.
