    One Summer Night

Forty six years ago, on a quiet night in January, long-time friends Suzanne Armstrong and Susan Bartlett were brutally stabbed to death in their rented house in Collingwood, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne. Suzanne’s 16 month son was in his cot, just metres away from the frenzied attack. Journalist Helen Thomas has been reporting on this case for several years and continues that investigation now...

    Three Witnesses

    Three Witnesses

For decades, the common misconception was there had been no witnesses to this double homicide. Yet, there were people living in the street who saw and heard things on the night Susan and Suzanne died and in the days that followed that could have proved significant. One was right next door. Police failed to interview any of them at the time.

    What Detectives Thought They Knew

From the start of this investigation, a chilling ‘coincidence’ focused attention almost exclusively on a local crime reporter as the chief ‘person of interest’. Twenty years later, DNA testing quickly cleared him of any involvement. What was missed in the meantime?

Fascinating podcast.
I was struck by one comment in ep 3 that 2 men in the vicinity of the crime were seen kissing each other on the cheek. This seems a Mediterranean thing to do and also between men an act of solidarity. Other sightings were of cordial engagements between the women and male visitors. This plus the absence of any sign of a break in suggests that they knew each other. Is it possible that this was an honour killing organised by the family of the child Gregory’s father in retaliation for Suzanne’s return to Australia and her turning her back on her child’s father’s family? Just a thought…..
