How can you become a net positive leader?Right now, the COP28 Climate Summit is taking place in Dubai, where the most important discussions around climate change are in full swing. My hope is that some of these conversations are spilling over into boardrooms because the stark reality is that we need to do more. The encouraging fact is that your business holds untapped potential to actively contribute to the solution. However, it necessitates a shift in perspective from every leader, not just the progressive ones—a realisation that courageous companies are Net Positive and thrive by giving more than they take.Today's guest is Andrew Winston, a globally recognised expert on megatrends and how to build companies that thrive by serving the world. His views on sustainable business strategy have been sought after by many of the world’s leading companies. Dr. Leyla Acaroglu: The Circular Future - Activating Agency, Navigating Circles of Innovation, and Ushering in The Circular Economy

Dr. Leyla Acaroglu: The Circular Future - Activating Agency, Navigating Circles of Innovation, and Ushering in The Circular Economy

Dr. Leyla Acaroglu is an award-winning designer, sustainability provocateur, social scientist and entrepreneur, Leyla developed the Disruptive Design Method and creates educational experiences, toolkits, and social enterprises that help design a sustainable, circular and regenerative future.

She's a mainstage TED speaker, LinkedIn Changemaker and was named UNEP  Champion of the Earth in 2016 for her work in advancing science and innovation for sustainability.

For those immersed in purpose-driven business in the past decade, The Circular Economy isn't a new concept. If you're a leader just encountering it, consider yourself fortunate. You're on the brink of discovering an economic paradigm poised to revolutionise business as usual, all with a singular focus: guaranteeing a planet that thrives in health and abundance for generations to come.

Now, in offering a glimpse into The Circular Economy's potential, envision a future where waste is minimised, sustainability is paramount, and resources are efficiently used in a closed-loop system. Now, this shift from the traditional use-and-discard pattern to continuous use and reuse not only champions environmental responsibility but also brings a wealth of opportunity. The ultimate goal is to elevate our quality of life while safeguarding the future.

As a leader navigating the monumental shift towards circularity, it's understandable if you find yourself grappling with the challenge of dismantling years of entrenched capitalist thinking, but if you are a purpose-driven leader it is crucial to recognise that though circular thinking and action-taking you have the power to reshape the future today.

As economist Kate Raworth aptly puts it, "Today we have economies that need to grow, whether or not they make us thrive. What we need are economies that make us thrive, whether or not they grow”.

The real question is: How do we set these social circles in motion? The good news is that today's guest has devoted her life to equipping us with the toolkit. In my view, she is nothing short of world-class in decoding the path forward for purpose-driven pioneers striving to own their part in the creation of a more sustainable world.

Her name is Dr. Leyla Acaroglu (agaralou) and she challenges people to think differently about how the world works. As an award-winning designer, sustainability provocateur, social scientist and entrepreneur, Leyla developed the Disruptive Design Method and creates educational experiences, toolkits, and social enterprises that help design a sustainable, circular and regenerative future.

She's a mainstage TED speaker, LinkedIn Changemaker and was named UNEP - Champion of the Earth in 2016 for her work in advancing science and innovation for sustainability.

She is the founder of the UnSchool, Disrupt Design, the CO Project Farm, and Swivel Skills — an enterprise-level sustainability skills development platform. In addition to her entrepreneurial initiatives, Leyla is the Chief Circular Designer for Circular Australia.

Aaron Hurst: Purpose 2.0 ~ The Evolution Of The Purpose Economy

Aaron Hurst: Purpose 2.0 ~ The Evolution Of The Purpose Economy

Welcome to the DNA of Purpose Podcast. In this show, we unveil the insights, tools, and mindset shifts that empower you to build trust, champion adaptability, and muster the courage to unleash your DNA of Purpose—a purpose that's essential for sparking conversations, leading teams, rallying communities, and influencing cultural shifts that guide humanity toward the solutions reshaping our future.

Today, I am beyond excited to share with all of you a guest who has been at the top of my guest list since the day I started this podcast. His name is Aaron Hurst, and I consider him the godfather of the purpose movement and a true pioneer in the realm of purpose-driven leadership.

He's best known as the author of "The Purpose Economy." This book predicted the rise of purpose as a primary driver of economic growth and innovation. He coined the term ‘Purpose Mindset’, and in partnership with NYU, developed the first commercial measure of employee fulfilment. Aaron has spearheaded national and global studies on purpose in the workplace and in higher education, partnering with leading corporations and universities.

Aaron is also the founding CEO of Imperative, a venture-backed start-up that pioneered the first employee purpose profiling technology. This innovation has empowered hundreds of thousands to discover and own their purpose at work. Today, the platform also functions as a peer-coaching platform, becoming a vital tool for connecting and developing employees in light of trends redefining the future of work.

In addition to Imperative, in 2001, Aaron founded the Taproot Foundation, catalysing a massive $15 billion pro bono service market across the US and helping establish markets in over 30 countries. Yet, his achievements don't end there. Recognised by institutions like Ashoka and the Manhattan Institute and authoring the 'Purposeful CEO' series for Fast Company, Aaron's insights have appeared on platforms such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg TV.

In our discussion today, we'll delve deep into the DNA of Purpose, navigating the rich tapestry of Aaron's life and revealing the pivotal moments that directed his purpose and passion. We'll debunk myths, trace the evolution of the purpose economy since 2014, and explore the connections between purpose, leadership, and the forthcoming phase of global economics—and much more.

Ryan Berman: Braving New Frontiers - The Heart of Courageous Leadership Amidst Tidal Shifts of Change

Welcome to another episode of The DNA Of Purpose Podcast. Here, we dive deep into understanding how entrepreneurs, leaders, and change makers can build unwavering trust, demonstrate courage, and lead transformative, purpose-driven initiatives, especially in our ever-evolving world.

In this episode, we journey into the heart of COURAGE. Courage isn't just a fleeting feeling—it's that unyielding flame that pushes you onward, despite paralysing fears or overwhelming fatigue. It's about peering into what the future holds and having the tenacity to act boldly now. True courage lies in trusting your instincts, pursuing undeniable callings, and speaking out—even if your voice trembles—for the change you envision and aspire to manifest.

Courage is the foundation of a life led with purpose. Which is why I'm thrilled to welcome Ryan Berman back for another enlightening conversation.

A little about Ryan: He's a veteran in championing courageous ideas, having devoted over two decades to trailblazing storytelling and change management. His revolutionary methods have garnered recognition in prestigious platforms like Entrepreneur, Fast Company, Inc., and Forbes.

Author of Return On Courage: A Business Playbook For Change, our prior discussion dissected his book's profound insights. Curious about that chat? Here is the link: https://omny.fm/shows/dna-of-purpose/ryan-berman-purpose-the-central-courage-system

I must mention, beyond Ryan's impressive credentials, what truly stands out is his genuine warmth and affability. Having conversed with numerous awe-inspiring personalities on this podcast, Ryan, despite the physical distance, emanates a comforting sense of camaraderie. It's arguably his most endearing quality, and many would echo this sentiment.

Today, Ryan and I deep dive into courage once more. We discuss its evolution, especially in the post-pandemic world, and its personal manifestations urging transformation. We treat courage as both an attainable skill and an essential facet of futuristic leadership. Delving into its dual nature, we observe how it equips us to maintain operational momentum, while also scouting the horizon for forthcoming challenges.

Together, we uncover how to channel fear into making audacious choices and taking impactful actions. Trust me, that's merely scratching the surface.

A quick heads-up: You might notice some sleek sound effects enhancing our chat. We encountered a few connectivity glitches, so we introduced these auditory elements to ensure a smooth and pleasant listening experience for you.

So, brace yourselves for an exhilarating discourse on courage with the incomparable Ryan Berman. Dive into The DNA Of Purpose Podcast.
