S2 E05: LON GALLERY WITH ADAM STONE

S2 E05: LON GALLERY WITH ADAM STONE

In Episode 5 your hosts find themselves in the charming company of an ambitious young gallerist; Adam Stone, and his canine companion Toby, at Lon Gallery. The conversation starts out as the three recall a troubled period in any creative's life - the days right after art school. Adam shares the experience of forging his own path in Melbourne's art world, via residencies in New York and Beijing.
The trio go completely off road as they compare the world of commercial galleries, punk boutique art fairs, and BMX bike riding. Elizaveta remembers her sweet 16th birthday party and Matto has flashbacks to getting drunk with a queer arts mentor back in his youth.

*In this episode, we cover a couple of galleries that aren't open anymore, so we share their history via our show notes with links below.

S2 E04: WEST PROJECTIONS WITH CHANTAL WYNTER

S2 E04: WEST PROJECTIONS WITH CHANTAL WYNTER

Episode 4 is hands down the most quotable of the season!
Your hosts welcome Chantal Wynter to Matto's westside abode and the trio hit the ground running by plotting a murder. They get sidetracked as Chantal shares the history of West Projections Festival.
They unpack some fruitful and rotten thinking around arts practice, artists as adults that play and practitioner labels. Chantal and Elizaveta unanimously explode in the "aha!" moment as Matto teaches them that even fruit trees don't bear fruit all year round.
Finally, Elizaveta reveals a little too much about her dorky work ways, but her friends seem to like her anyway.

Hilarious and informative

As an artist it’s been great to hear from the people that run the galleries, it’s an awesome insight into what their values are and makes the spaces much more approachable. I especially loved the episode with Blender studios, it was great to hear from artists as well it’d be great to hear from some more artists. Matt and Liz are so funny and love how open they make every conversation, makes me feel better that everyone is having the same struggles.

This is the best arts-based podcast I've ever heard!
Someone should throw some grant money (or wine) at these two very charismatic and intelligent hosts!
Quick - give them a radio show ASAP!

Liz and Matt are fun hosts that know their subject matter and deliver their views in an engaging and humorous manner that invites the listener to pull up a bar stool and go along on their booze fuelled art ranting adventure! Definitely worth a listen!
