Solo 4WD Camping in the Goldfields.

Solo 4WD Camping in the Goldfields.

Spring has definitely sprung! Not to mention the wild flowers that bloom this time of year all over Western Australia.
In this episode of Epic Drives Western Australia, I visit the Goldfields, 400kms East of Perth.
Starting in Yellowdine and camping in the abandoned mining town of Mount Palmer I headed west visiting Frog Rock, Jilbadgie Rocks, Shark Mouth and much more. I've only done a hand full of remote solo 4WD trips and this was an outback adventure that'll be stuck in my mind for a long time to come.

4 Wheeling in Western Australia’s mid west region and hiking the Bibbulmun track.

4 Wheeling in Western Australia’s mid west region and hiking the Bibbulmun track.

With Covid restrictions lifted in W.A. we took the opportunity to escape the city and #wanderoutyonder on a 4x4 camping trip to the midwest region of Western Australia. Beginning our trip in Carnamah, 272 km from Perth and passing through Perenjori, Rothsay and Wubin, I stuck the Hilux in four-wheel-drive to visit some unique outback locations along the Perenjuri-Rothsay 4WD track. Crossing the State Barrier Fence we stopped at Gishuble Well Farm School, Sandlewood Cutter’s Hut, Little Damerwah Well, Beryl Mine and Forrest Lookout before crossing the Rabbit Proof Fence to reach Camel Soak Well and finally heading home along Great Northern Highway.
A few historic personalities from the area are people such as Alfred Chopin who is buried here, John Forrest (the states first Premier,) and Explorer Ludwig Leichhardt who became lost out here.
With my trusty Hema App and the book 4WD weekends out of Perth to guide me (I also took my brand-new Spot Gen 3 personal locator beacon) this was a rare, full family member camping trip that I will definitely remember for a lifetime! The following week I headed out on a scenic 31km solo hike down the Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia. I ditched my 4WD for this episode and headed down his legendary long distance track on foot.
This episode begins at Canning Highway through virgin Jarrah forest, crossing Canning River, climbing Mount Cuthbert and Mount Vincent, camping at Canning and Monadnocks huts and finishing at Sullivan Rock.

How to properly plan your next 4WD adventure.

How to properly plan your next 4WD adventure.

My personal tips for organising four wheel drive trips in Western Australia.
Are you planning an epic off- road adventure? This episode of Epic Drives Western Australia will hopefully help you prepare for your next coastal or outback 4WD road trip.
Each 4x4 trip is obviously different and having a pre-trip checklist set up with all your essential equipment along with both digital & paper maps (Hema, Google earth, 4WD days/weekends out of Perth) as well as a well maintained vehicle that you have inspected before departure will not only ensure you have the safest trip but also an enjoyable time travelling and camping.
So what are you waiting for? Get packing.... After watching this video of course!
If your a beginner, be sure to check out my other videos in this series.

What camera gear I use for adventure Vlogging on YouTube.

What camera gear I use for adventure Vlogging on YouTube.

For the last few years I’ve slowly been purchasing camera gear that specifically meets the needs of an adventurer/YouTuber/Vlogger and I’ve been asked a number of times now by some of you bloody legends as to what camera gear I take with me in my bag. So here is my setup of June 2019
    Canon 200D
Canon EF 50 mm F1 .8 STM lens
    Canon 18 - 55 mm lens
    GoPro Hero 7
    DJI Osmo mobile
    DJI spark
All this fits into a standard backpack, which for me is extremely important but it’s all very easy to use gear as well as extremely cost-effective! 🇦🇺🤙
