Episode 102: Media Marketing & Branding The Musician's Guide To Being Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise

    • Performing Arts

“The things that have been pivotal and crucial in my career have had nothing to do with my materials and everything to do with me, my personal development journey, my skill set, and also luck - right place at the right time with the right people with the best intentions.”
In a digital age with countless forms of media to choose from, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by marketing and branding materials we think we should have. In this episode, Karen walks us through taking inventory of what you already have and what you want to have for the future of your brand:

1. What does your presence online look like?
“It doesn’t matter if you have the most beautiful photos in the world, the most epic cinematography situation going on with your videos, just the most beautiful sounds, the most elegant website: if you do not post consistently, people will not see your stuff.” 2. “What do you want to share that’s more than your music?”
“With photography, we have the opportunity to capture ourselves in our element.” 3. What are you working on or excited about? How do people contact you, and where else can they find you?
Websites are gamechangers, even if all they do is answer the above questions. You can always add more - your website will evolve with you and the things that you’re doing. 4. What do you want to do? What are your desires?
What do we want to invest in (money, time)? What is our ROI? “None of your materials - none of the things that you put out there with your likeness and your brand are going to make or break you. I have a fabulous website… I’m really proud of it, but it didn’t get me a million new clients, it didn’t get me my job at the university I wanna go teach at, it literally just made a beautiful space for people to come and get some free resources or reach out to me or want to work with me.”
