Hello! Welcome to Check Your Thread, a podcast about sewing more sustainably. Each episode we enjoy nerding out about sewing, whilst picking up ideas and useful tips for how to reduce our impact on the environment. My aim is always to approach topics with a sense of curiosity and fun, and hope to leave our listeners feeling inspired by the end of each episode.

Examples of topics that we cover include sourcing second hand textiles, zero waste sewing patterns, mending, upcycling, scrap-busting and alternative and surprising sources for fabric. If there are any topics you’d like CYT to cover, anyone you’d like me to get on the podcast to chat to or you’d just like to say hi, please email me at zoe@checkyourthread.com or message me via Instagram @checkyourthread.

Sew good

Zoe is such a delight, and the content she creates is valuable and insightful. I love the ‘Sustainability Wins and Fails’ section — Zoe holds space for herself and her listeners with compassion, kindness and enthusiasm. Highly recommend.

Favourite commute day!

I’ve recently had a long commute daily for work, and have had lots of time for podcasts. The day a new Check Your Thread episode comes out is my favourite commute day! I’ve also been re-listening to episodes and am still learning new things. It’s is enjoyable to listen to, very educational without being preachy, and sometimes results in re-evaluating my thoughts and behaviours. I also enjoy hearing about Zoe’s current projects, wins and failures. Zoe is relatable and passionate, and we are lucky she has the drive to share this with us.

Inspiring ideas to listen to while sewing

I love listening to this while sewing to inspire new ways of approaching my sewing practice. Zoe presents many ideas for addressing sustainability in sewing - whether it be global sustainability or sustainability of maintaining a sewing practice while living a busy life. This podcast has inspired me to try new fabulous things with sewing scraps and to stop being scared of altering and mending.
