Talking Through Welcome to the Club

For this episode 69 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, LT, Kyle and Brian talk through Welcome to the Club. Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 2 was written by Nazrin Choudhury, and directed by none other than Lennie James. We also discuss a little bit about World Beyond Episode 3 titled The Tyger and the Lamb.

Strand and Alicia get put in a sticky situation!

In this episode, we get Alicia and Strand and Ginny enacting some punishment for their defiance towards one of her Rangers. Only to be sent on a mission… well punishment… to clean out some sticky walkers from a warehouse that Ginny has some interest in. Dear old Charlie returns; Kyle still does not like her but it’s nice seeing some of the group being united after all this time. Daniel shows up cutting Ginny’s hair but after some pleas from Alicia and Strand, it would seem he’s suffered some mental damage at the hands of Ginny’s men. (Yeah Right!)

It was a good episode and from the feedback, our listeners enjoyed it as much as we did, well mostly all our listeners. It’s nice seeing the show come back to elements of what we loved about this show from past seasons. Show us the characters we love and do it in a character-driven way. This season does seem to have some promise and that makes us happy.

Talking Through The End is the Beginning

Fear’s back! For this episode 68 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, LT, Kyle and I talk through The End is the Beginning. Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 1 was written by the showrunners Ian Goldberg & Andrew Chambliss, and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. We also discuss a little bit about World Beyond Episode 2 titled The Blaze of Gory.

    Morgan is Alive!

This episode begins with some dudes spraying graffiti, a dude with a dog who likes to chop off heads, with a call from Ginny who is still looking for Morgan, dead or alive. So it’s a relief (not that all of us didn’t expect it) that Morgan, while in bad shape, is still alive and moseying around Texas. He has some new digs in a water tower and met a new friend but Ginny is looking for him and sent a head collecting bounty hunter with a dog after him. It sets the stage for a very western-style season that we are very looking forward to.

A great start but there were some missteps.

We enjoyed the episode as a whole but there were some silly things that we are all too accustomed to with Fear. LT really made the point that the show is called The Walking Dead so if our group ever has wheels there always something that forces them back on their feet. But if you have a Truck! A four-wheeling behemoth that a few fallen trees and clearly a way to drive around it makes you have to abandon all hope and have to hoof it the rest of the way? I mean, really? Some of our listeners didn’t like the fact that Emile the bounty hunter is only going to be in this first episode and he really did have more to his story that would have been interesting to see. But oh well at least Morgan is still alive.

TWDTT 116 - The Walking Dead Universe & Talk Through Podcast News!

We have returned and we have News!

We are finally back! For episode 116 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Brian and Kyle discuss all things new coming to The Walking Dead Universe. There has been a lot of news since everything shut down back in March and we touch on a few of them. Sherry joins Dwight on Fear, The new spinoff The World Beyond, and some Andrew Lincoln gossip about if he’s returning to the television show. We are excited to be coming back and to discuss the return of our favorite series, finally.

    First, some housekeeping…

We have to first make an announcement. Mark has left The Walking Dead Talk Through podcast and the Talk Through Media Network and is no longer affiliated with this podcast. He has started up his own network and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

    We Need Your Help!

With that announcement out of the way, Brian and I are going to have our hands full with the return of Fear and The World Beyond all happening within The Walking Dead Universe at the same time as well as season 3 of Star Trek Discovery, as Brian also hosts The Star Trek Discovery Podcast. We just don’t have time to cover everything as we would normally do. We are asking any of our listeners if you would like to co-host with Kyle on some or all of the episodes for Fear the Walking Dead. We decided at this time we will not cover the spinoff The World Beyond as there is just not enough manpower to handle everything all at the same time, though we may cover it in passing.

    Send in your feedback!

We finally know when the next episode will be and it will be on October 4th at 9/8 central with the premiere of The Walking Dead: The World Beyond at 10/9 central. Fear is coming back the next week on October 11th at 9/8 central. So get ready with that feedback. One of the best ways to submit feedback is on our Facebook group at https://facebook.com/groups/WalkingDeadTTM/. You can also send us an email to walkingdead@talkthroughmedia.com or call our new voicemail at 216-232-6146. Deadline for Feedback for the Finale will be 6 PM Eastern the Tuesday after the episode airs.

Talking Through End of the Line

For this episode 67 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark, Kyle and I talk through End of the Line. Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 16 was written by the showrunners Ian Goldberg & Andrew Chambliss, and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis.

We start with a discussion of the last episode… that also discusses this one… yet again

This episode began with feedback on S5E15 Channel 5 from Todd and Aaron. Discussion about the season finale, in particular, begins at 13 minutes 27 seconds into the podcast.

    We got a wedding!

There were some good points to celebrate in this season finale. We finally have our power couple, John Dorie and June, tie the knot this episode, in a very bittersweet scene at Humbug’s Gulch. Dwight was great this episode, and the walker roundup and ride down the rapids were pretty great to watch, but we had a lot of problems with this episode.

Is it the end of the line for Morgan?

With an ending that was similar to the final scenes of Madison in the Season 4 mid-season finale, but with a much different story told on Talking Dead. That time, they were very clear on Talking Dead that Madison was dead. Since I watched it a couple of nights early because I have AMC Premiere, I had to wonder if he was going to be dead, but it turned out that they didn’t say either way. Clearly, whether he makes it through Season 6 or not, there will be some to tell. Could the long thought dead Madison save him? Could it be that Dwight did not hallucinate Sherry, that she’s really alive and tried to make contact, and that she’s the one who will save him next season? Is there a dumpster for Morgan to crawl under?

Is Ginny as glad as a grandma with a gravy boat?

Virginia, the person not the state, has a thing with alliteration that I’m making fun of here and with my rating. That wasn’t the only Ginny thing that bothered me; I really had a problem with Ginny’s strategy of splitting apart the group, even as far as at the family level. If she’s really an efficiency expert, you would think she would realize that the best way for our people to be productive members of her society is for them to be content. There’s no way they will be content and productive if families have been split apart, whether they are families in the traditional sense, or in the chosen sense. She’s mean enough to keep Skidmark and Daniel apart? What good would that do?

    Send in your feedback!

Please leave your feedback! We got a good dose of feedback again this week, so keep it comin’! Next time, we’ll cover any additional feedback we get for S5E16 End of the Line, and then talk through a more detailed analysis of the season 10 premiere of The Walking Dead, titled Lines We Cross. Get your feedback in by 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. One of the best ways to submit feedback is on our Facebook group. You can also send us an email at our new email: walkingdead@talkthroughmedia.com or call our new voicemail at 216-232-6146.

Our next episode will be something new!

Now, that said, your feedback will NOT be a part of the next episode, but we have something special planned. AMC Premiere made The Walking Dead season premiere available a week ahead of its airing on AMC this Sunday night. Because of that, we were all able to watch the season premiere several days early! What does that mean for you? Well, you’ll get an extra episode! We’re going to do something we’ve never done, a “first impressions” podcast of the season premiere! That will be TWDTT 99, and we intend on releasing that episode on Sunday night, right after Talking Dead, or soon after! Episode 100 will be the full TWDTT episode that will cover your feedback and a more detailed analysis from us.

    Ratings are up

    Talking Through Channel 5

On this episode 66 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark, Kyle and I talk through Channel 5. Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 15 was written by Michael Alaimo & Samir Mehta, and directed by David Barrett.

We start with a discussion of the last episode… that also discusses this one… again

This episode began with feedback on S5E14 Today and Tomorrow from Todd, LT, and Aaron. Discussion about this episode, in particular, begins at 18 minutes 24 seconds into the podcast.

More found footage! Huh, more found footage? Yup, it’s even more found footage…

I liked this episode a lot on the first watch, but it didn’t do well on rewatches. There were some things in this episode that just didn’t feel authentic. Tom, on one hand, seemed to genuinely appreciate what this group was trying to do, but then he sacrifices himself in a completely idiotic way. You didn’t have to die, Tom, and what purpose did it serve? For that matter, what does it tell the viewer? I really hope they are done with this tape thing! It feels SO inefficient. Why not find a TV or radio station and broadcast your message on a loop? That seems much more effective than these tapes. It’s just dumb.
