The Pet Nutrition Show, with Amanda and Dr Anna.

From food waste to pet food

Sustainable Pet Nutrition: Transforming Food Waste into Pet Food

In this episode of 'The Pet Nutrition Show', host Dr. Anna Sutton and co-host Amanda discuss an interesting topic: the use of food waste in pet food. While we all strive to minimise our own food waste, the food industry faces a different kind of challenge - dealing with vast amounts of waste on an industrial scale. Today, we dive into the innovative ways one leading company, Kagome, is turning carrot pulp and tomato skin and seed, into valuable ingredients for pet food.

Their guest, Troy Hugdson, marketing lead with Kagome, shares the challenges and the benefits of creating NinjinFibre carrot fibre and LycoFibre tomato fibre, full of antioxidants and beneficial fibre, from food waste. He also reveals future plans for producing beetroot and apple fibre. The episode concludes with a 'food hack' for pet owners.
