"The world's worst Easter egg hunt, ever" - with Ella Ward.

"The world's worst Easter egg hunt, ever" - with Ella Ward.

In Ella's words, she's "An Aussie mum, wife, writer, Advertising boss lady and now (unfortunately), one of 'those cancer people' ". This is not just 'another cancer story' and it's definitely not a 'journey' - "it's an absolute sh*t-show", as she puts it.

At just 36, Ella Ward was diagnosed with - wait for it - anal cancer. Who even knew this was a thing? Especially in an otherwise healthy 36 year old woman?!

A self-confessed over-sharer, Ella decided early on in her diagnosis that she was going to document her sh*t-show and share it publicly on social media - and often, hilariously so (it feels a bit wrong saying that about something like this but it's not an understatement! You'll see/hear!).

We talk about fear, the importance of therapy as preventative self-care, IVF, early onset menopause, Jude Law (who is Ella's titanium Hollywood leave pass, if anyone listening can hook a gal up?) and of course, the dreaded big (anal) "C".

PLEASE bear with us on the sound in this ep. Given that we recorded during Covid-19/isolation, we opted for an appropriately distanced Zoom call instead of a face-to-face mic recording. So, we're relying on computer mics here that are certainly not studio quality - though let's be real, my eps never are! They're intended to be a li'l raw and not overly produced and are just like casual convos between pals - because really, that's exactly what is going on here.

Join our convo and do yourself a solid and go find/follow Ella on IG. It's worth it for all the LOLz @_msellabella

Ella's song choice for the Girl's Got Moxie S2 guest playlist on Spotify is "This Feeling" by Alabama Shakes.

Menstrual super-powers (and how to harness them) - with Life Coach Michaela Rosandich.

Menstrual super-powers (and how to harness them) - with Life Coach Michaela Rosandich.

    I.LOVE.THIS.EPISODE.

I met Life Coach Michaela Rosandich last year at an event about period poverty and period shame that I was speaking at, and we just kinda hit it off: "Michaela, will you be on my podcast and talk about that thing you said earlier about period shame being a societal construct created by the patricarchy?" "Sure! When does it start?" And here we are.

Michaela started her career in corporate marketing but had her "a-ha!" moment in 2016, which is when she became a life coach and started her business 'Empress, Crow and Rabbit', supporting high achieving women (us, duh!) to better understand, explore and harness the 'super-powers' we have throughout our menstrual cycles - by understanding the different and changing energies throughout our cycles, and by tracking these, we can change our work-flows to suit; in turn helping life in general flow more smoothly.

    We talk:

    • How Michala made the career leap from Corporate Marketing to Life Coach
    • Menstrual Super-powers and how to get the best out of each phase of your period
    • The different phases of your period, the moon, and how the two are connected
    • Period shame
    • The history of matrimony, matriarchy and patriarchy

Michaela's song choice for the Girl's Got Moxie S2 guest playlist on Spotify is "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil.

"2020 sucks!" Life, business and dating in iso - with Lisa Teh and Phoebe Simmonds.

2020 as we (thought we) knew it has been turned on its head - what an sh*t-storm! I've invited back two of my life/biz buds who I chatted to late last year on the poddy: Lisa Teh, Founder of 'Codi' Digital Marketing Agency, personal care brand '101 Lifestyle' and the 'Lick' podcast; and Phoebe Simmonds, Founder of 'The Blow Australia' and Co-founder of 'The Memo', your ultimate online edit for all things baby - to talk about life and business whilst in iso. From iso-dating, to whether or not it's socially acceptable for milennials to be on Tik-Tok, to how our life and business routines have changed, to feeling the pressure to be productive during lockdown, we reflect on all the things we said we'd do in 2020 vs. the things we're ACTUALLY doing...

The links between gut, skin and hormonal health - with Anna Mitsios, Naturopath and Founder of Edible Beauty Australia

The links between gut, skin and hormonal health - with Anna Mitsios, Naturopath and Founder of Edible Beauty Australia

When someone tells you that their mantra is "we should all wake up dancing", you know that they're a good sort of human. Moxettes, meet ultra-good human, Naturopath and Founder of Edible Beauty Australia - Anna Mitsios.

Anna was 18 when she was diagnosed with diabetes and it was this diagnosis that ultimately spawned her to leave a career in banking and pursue naturopathy. In clinical practice, she was often blending natural skincare and ingestible remedies for her clients, many with PCOS and endometriosis, to help them better manage their symptoms and soon after, she had the idea for Edible Beauty - a range of beauty and ingestible products that are, in Anna's words, "safe enough to eat".

Get ready to take notes, peeps, because this episode is packed with a heap of easy natural remedies and watch-outs for helping achieve balance, both in life (y'all are going to want to do Anna's 'wheel' exercise) and also in our bodies - starting with what we put in our stomachs. We talk PCOS, how to reduce excess estrogen in our bodies, what causes hormonal breakouts and how to make realistic and sustainable changes in our lives that can help improve our overall health.

This episode was recorded late last year in Anna's office/warehouse in Sydney - you might hear faint background noises, phones ringing and a baby's cries occasionally - because these eps are intended to be authentic, raw, honest, and as such they are not highly (if at all!) edited.

Head over to OVER-FLOW on YouTube (by @OfficialMoxieTV) for a BTS glimpse of this podcast episode where Anna and I talk about what it means to have 'Moxie'!

Anna's song request for the Girl's Got Moxie S2 playlist is 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams.

Intelligent and fun. These girls got Moxie

I’ve listened to 4 episodes and I can’t wait for the rest. Each one is dealing with a sensitive subject in a fun and engaging way. In language we can all understand. I learned quite a bit even though I thought I had a good handle on these areas. Give it a listen you won’t regret. I think I actually met Mia a while ago. She was as fun and engaging then as she is on this poddy. She’s really got Moxie and if you’re not sure what that is- look it up.
