Stamina is the ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort. We focus on physical stamina and increasingly realise that mental stamina is just as important to high performance and is the difference between surviving and really thriving (performance, creativity and certainly connections).  As leaders and parents, it has become a much needed daily practice and without it we can make poor decisions, get stuck in the red zone, yell at the kids, beat ourselves up, loose perspective and feel so drained.  The opposite of what many of us want.  

Some key messages:


Managing your team's stamina is a hallmark of effective leadership even though it is not a KPI for most leaders
Employees who strongly agree that they feel their manager's support are about 70% less likely to experience work burnout regularly
Gallup found five factors that are most highly correlated with burnout:


Unfair treatment at work
Unmanageable workload
Unclear role
Lack of communication and manager support 
Unreasonable time pressure


A major source of 'energy leaking' is our inner critic, our default patterns can be frequent and exhausting ("mental self mutilation")
Nuero-performance is not about the land of incense and patchouli  
Practice, practice, practice!
