    Ep. 534 - Haunted Cemeteries 29

It wasn't until the nineteenth century that it occurred to people that cemeteries could make great parks. A movement carried over from France and swept the nation and garden cemeteries were founded in every state. These became gathering places for family picnics and settings for long, peaceful walks enveloped in the shade of countless varieties of trees. Several of these cemeteries are not as peaceful as they could be, with spirits roaming about after dusk. In this episode, we share the history and hauntings of cemeteries in Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Mississippi, Indiana and Colorado. The Moment in Oddity features the Tower of London Hand and This Month in History features ANZAC Day.

    Ep. 533 - Fort Riley

    Ep. 533 - Fort Riley

Fort Riley sits on the north bank of the Kansas River near Junction City in Kansas. The military installation has a history that stretches back more than 150 years. Early on, the soldiers' missions were to protect the overland trails that settlers were using to move west. Eventually, they protected the railways being built. The fort would eventually become important in training the cavalry and served as a training center for every major war. Today, it still is a working base with several museums dedicated to its history. Many locations reputedly have some strange things happening. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Fort Riley! The Moment in Oddity features the Rock and Roll Granny and This Month in History features the birth of Washington Irving. Our location was suggested by Ed Jones.

Phantasmal Crime 33 - Canadian Axe Murderess

Phantasmal Crime 33 - Canadian Axe Murderess

The Plains of Abraham have known death. This is a historic area inside Battlefields Park in Quebec City, Canada. Before the park, this was a place few would wander as it had a reputation for being a hiding place for criminals. Then it became a spot for executions to be carried out. And that is why there is a female ghost that roams the Plains of Abraham. Everyone calls her La Corriveau.

Val82Cns ,

Always engaging!

I have been a proud listener for well over a year, topics are truly fascinating and there is so much research behind each episode. I love the perfect blend of history and paranormal and the host Dianne is such a pleasure to listen to. I wouldn’t have it in any other way!

Speak too quickly!

I really wanted to like this podcast, but the presenters speak so quickly I had to check my settings- and I’m Australian so speak quite quickly myself. Couldn’t listen.

Very enjoyable

I really enjoy this podcast. The hosts are engaging and the information provided is really interesting and obviously well-researched. I'm deducting a mark as I find the mispronunciation of foreign words and named distracting. It may sound pedantic but I do feel that given the amount of research that obviously goes into episodes, research into correct pronunciation would be a small further step that would make a huge difference. If not, at least an acknowledgement/apology that pronunciation may not be correct.... Anyway, just my opinion.... Still love listening to the ladies!
