We sit down and talk about the problems she’s had when planning her running, but then also the struggles of sticking to the plan, and not overdoing it.  We talk about why everyone thinks running has to be hard and why we all run too quickly.

Ep14 - Warren Williams: Running and Overcoming Setbacks

Ep14 - Warren Williams: Running and Overcoming Setbacks

“Everyone is a runner” this is one of Warren’s (Woz’s) quotes to people who don’t consider themselves runners. Woz is the coach of the Eastern suburbs “The Run Squad,” but is so much more than that. In this episode, we discuss Woz’s running history, from the infancy of triathlon to having his life turned on its head after being diagnoses with a heart condition. Woz’s story is one of hope, despite the setbacks he’s had; we talk about how he’s overcome them, and how everyone else can overcome their setbacks as well. Over the weekend The Run Squad ran the Relay for Hope, a mammoth 2-day relay all around Sydney where along the way they ran past almost 100 members of the squad’s houses, picking them up along the way. This was all to raise money for the nurses at the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation and St Vincents Hospital Sydney, where two of the members work. They have nearly raised $20,000 which is incredible, so let’s help them get there, the links are below to the donation pages, and to the run squad. Hope you enjoyed the episode!

JJ is a newer part of the Running Science community, coming into us for shoes (and advice) after developing a horrible ITB injury 6 months ago. As you’ll hear we discuss how JJ struggled with the injury, but also how he overcame it through a variety of different strategies.

What’s the longest injury you’ve had and how did you overcome it? for JJ, shoes were the final thing that ‘fixed’ his problem, but we know this is certainly not the case for most people, what’s worked for you?

Ep10 - Starting Running Later in Life - Mothers Day Edition

Many people have a mid-life crisis and decide to pick up running, and that's exactly what Harrison and his Mum discuss in this episode. They talk about her journey 10 years ago, starting running at 47; the achievements, mistakes and ways you can avoid making the same ones! Many people consider that they are too old to start running in their 40s, but we hope to dispel that myth in this episode. Hope you all enjoy!
