The ID-SME relationship is almost always caught in a storm. The SME thinks that the ID is too young, too inexperienced, too theoretical...etc., and the ID finds the SME stubborn and headstrong, unwilling to change, infuriatingly inflexible...and so on.

But there is a method to this madness.

The perfect storyboard is an illusion.

But you already know this – don't you?

You also know that storyboards are the craziest thing to create.

They require:

Creativity of all the four kinds (visual, textual, aural, and kinesthetic,) logic, smarts, empathy, passion, patience…and a few more attributes.

In this episode, we discuss the important dos and don’ts of writing good visual descriptions, onscreen texts, and programming notes or interactivity descriptions. So if you are an instructional designer who has storyboarded at least once, then this episode can help you enhance your storyboarding skills.

Warning: If you’ve never storyboarded before – this episode isn’t going to make a lot of sense to you. It assumes that you’ve been into eLearning storyboarding and want to go further.

Episode 9 :: Are your biases preventing your courses and training programs from succeeding?

Why you don’t remember the face of everyone who dances behind Hrithik Roshan or Katrina Kaif?
Why don’t you remember the details of every object on your desk, but despite the clutter you remember the exact spot where you would find your favorite pen?
Why the man and the woman who were sitting on that bench silently, appear to be a couple?
Why you enjoy seeing videos of performances that appear perfect?
Why can’t you sleep when you are trying to find out why something happened or why do you keep seeing a triangle when three sticks are set up so that their ends touch?

Episode 7 :: This episode tells the story of Ravi.

In this episode, let us accompany Ravi on his journey from Kanpur in India where he was born, to Los Angeles in the United States, and watch him transform from a poor but carefree child into an unhappy millionaire.

Ravi’s story is about love and life, about hope and desire, about guilt and regret, and it is about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a theory of human motivation given by Dr. Abraham Maslow, and I am of the opinion that the roots of learner motivation are deeply embedded in the psychology of human motivation.

I recommend keeping your notebook and a pen handy.

In this episode, I talk about the AFR Learner Types and how self-identifying as one of the types and changing ourselves in the right direction could help us stay employable in the coming two decades.
