Each week Jane Webster and Wendy Harrop use a love letter as a springboard for soulful and rich conversation.What is a love letter? It is a letter, a text, a poem, a direct message, a drawing, a voice message, a watercolor, a recipe, a cup of tea, a smile, a home-baked meal delivered. It's anything that connects us and makes us feel all those messy emotions, that without life would be pretty beige.“What is most personal is most universal.” ~ Carl R. A Jack Gilbert Poem as a Love Letter

    A Jack Gilbert Poem as a Love Letter

    This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy discuss the poem A Brief for the Defense by American Poet Jack Gilbert as a love letter.
    Wendy and Jane talk about the act of allowing for delight and richness in life, and that our joy does not take the joy away from someone else.
     They talk about;
    How one person's experience of joy may not at all be the same as another.That if we focus on injustice and are allowed only to be happy when no one is suffering, we will have a world of only suffering. That injustice is not to be disregarded, but that gratitude and joy are to be given their place as well, and how in turn this actually gives us the opportunity to do something about the injustices we see. Not to let other people steal your joyWendy’s Takeaway
    ‘We must risk delight.'Jane’s Takeaway
    ‘We can do without pleasure.’ but, there must be a choice because some of us can’t. She will take away to really look into the difference between pleasure and delight.

    This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy share and talk about A Song as a Love Letter to Chateau Bosgouet.
    Jane shares a story of how Charlotte of Viv et Margot, a now dear friend, persistently encouraged her to join in the practice of doing Instagram Lives and a resulting contest that arose from that experience. The contest was to submit a love letter to win a Chateau Life Residency at Chateau Bosgouet. Jeff's Birthday Love Letter

    Jeff's Birthday Love Letter

    This week on Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy share and talk about a Birthday love letter to Wendy’s dear friend Jeff.
    While an incredible cook, Wendy’s dear friend Jeff had proclaimed he was not able to make cookies.  This led to Wendy making cookies for him each year on his birthday.  This particular Birthday love letter came the year that Jeff retired and moved to France - too far to send his birthday cookies. Wendy’s solution to the distance between them was to send the dry ingredients to France for Jeff to bake his favorite cookies himself. Enclosed in the package was a handwritten recipe from her as a love letter,  plus a little bonus love letter from her daughter Amelia; Jeff’s god-daughter.
    They talk about;
    How recipes are a love letter evoking memories of moments and traditions shared. The treasure that a gift is when there is genuine thought and care for the recipient’s experience of it.  How the food surrounding birthdays is such an integral part of the celebration, often because the birthday celebrant chooses a favorite dish or menu and that is part of the gift of their day.Wendy’s Takeaways
    A birthday or any gift does not need to be expensive but it needs to be thoughtfulGifts are not finite. They are not just a gift to the recipient, but one for the giver and then when the gift is treasured, it's a gift that gives again and again. Jane’s Takeaways
    The recipe shows pure friendship and love.How the love of a child can change someone’s heart.Thoughtfulness creates a moment that lasts ---------------------------------

Love letters and so much more

Jane and Wendy dive into the almost forgotten art of intimate pen-ship. Delving into relationships, secret desires and the beauty of truly bringing forth moments of seeing one another. This podcast is an aching reminder and antidote for this time in our lives, where connection and seeing one another has the power to heal the division and weave the threads of beauty back into humanity. I love Jane abs Wendy’s courage to bring this forth, navigating technology, cross continent challenges and finding their way in the land of podcasting. They are True adventure spirits, a friendship born through the beauty of sharing their first letters. Do yourself a favour and go listen
