Hello! Thanks for being curious about the Low Tox Life podcast. I'm Alexx Stuart, your host, and after writing and researching on health and sustainability for many years at lowtoxlife.com, I am thrilled to bring this podcast to you as an extension of the online community. The concept of living a Low Tox Life is one that rejects perfection, black and white notions of there only being one way to 'do it right'. Instead, we take a relaxed and curious approach to better choices to incorporate into our lives as and if they fit. Low Tox therefore instead of 'no tox' which to most of us who aren't on an off grid hippy commune, just isn't achievable. There's nothing more that makes me sad than having people quit before they begin because you feel like a failure. Let's feel awesome about what we can learn and do from today! On this show, we cover lots of low tox topics around sustainability, health, fashion, farming, lowering our toxic load and mind happiness and with the brilliant minds I'm so grateful to chat with, I just know you'll be inspired as I am from each show. Enjoy, subscribe, pop the kettle on and most importantly: Welcome!

We also talk about the mental health benefits of creating a lifescape, what resources to surround yourself with to succeed and even redefining what success means when it comes to gardening.

196: John Gray - Going deeper into relationship communication

This week on the show we have Dr John Gray, known for his “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” and the many books he’s done since. If you didn’t catch show #147, head back and have a listen to last year’s show where we looked at hormone balance as key to a healthy relationship, how to get the balance right and what we can do to start communicating better. This show, we deep dive into the questions that came after you listened last year - such good questions! On this interview, we talk about spending more time than ever together during the era of the ‘Rona and how we can do that to success, as well as practical examples to use during arguments, how doing more than the other is relationship sabotage, same-sex couples and how getting the balance right happens when the hormones are the same rather than complementary and much, much more. I hope you enjoy it. I always learn so much from John. Grab more details on his books and work over on the show notes lowtoxlife.com/podcast

A health coach in the true sense of the word, she is supportive, positive, and can-do, full of solutions drawing on all the best science and research available to us today. In this interview, we discuss tween/teen periods - everything from conversations and resources to share with your kids, factors for establishing a healthy cycle in body and mind, right through to racial and class injustice when it comes to health care for girls around the world. It’s a super helpful show for people who need this in their life right now. I hope you enjoy it and Nicole’s book ‘Fix Your Period’ for girls and women at any age and stage before menopause, to make friends with their cycle, not see their periods as enemy No1. 193: Teresa Coady on Rebuilding Earth: Designing Eco Conscious Habitats for Humans

193: Teresa Coady on Rebuilding Earth: Designing Eco Conscious Habitats for Humans

Do you despair at the concrete jungle so many cities have become as well as the increased drought and floods we find ourselves experiencing these days as our new normal? On this week’s show, I interview design, engineering and construction powerhouse Teresa Coady, author of “Rebuilding Earth: Designing Eco-Conscious Habitats for Humans”. Teresa articulates so brilliantly how construction and how we build is key to the healing process our planet and people are so desperate for. In the past 30 years, we’ve taken more out of the Earth than all of human history…and 70 per cent of it is already back in landfill, so something needs to change and Teresa’s proposal for how we move forward is something that I believe everyone needs to hear. I hope you love this interview as much as I did. Head to the show notes for further details over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast

192: My Chemical-free House, with Corrine Segura

192: My Chemical-free House, with Corrine Segura

I first came across Corrine Segura’s work in a google search. It was 2016, I was in an inflammation cascade that seemed to bring me a new and bizarre symptom every day and I was searching for answers that doctors weren’t able to give me at the time. I suspected our home was the major culprit with water leaks and issues over the years but it was only an inkling at that stage. Coming across work like Corrine’s, someone who’d walked the path of sick building syndrome, chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivity and all the rest, she had turned her mess into the study of building biology to be able to support others. She’s been a certified building biologist specialised in North America and Canada for 6 years now after her studies and the level of research she does for clients and her Facebook/Blog community is commendable. I hope you enjoy the show and make the most of the sponsor offer over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast
