It's a question we ask (and get asked) all the time: “How are you?” And normally we just respond with “Fine!” even if we’re totally dying inside, so everyone can go about their day.
But it’s not always all that fine, is it?
“Terrible, Thanks For Asking” is a show by author Nora McInerny that lets real people get real honest about how they’re really doing. It’s sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and almost always both. A production of Feelings & Co.

Becoming Fairy Godmother: Egg Donation and Creating A New Kind of Family

Becoming Fairy Godmother: Egg Donation and Creating A New Kind of Family

Two years ago Julia Winston was asked to help a gay couple start a family by donating her eggs. At the time, she was 38, single, and had no idea if she’d start her own family. Sometimes that made her feel insecure, so the opportunity to donate her eggs allowed her to help create a family, just not the one she imagined in her head. Since the donation, she’s gone through an emotional transformation that opened her eyes to all the different ways a family can look.

Julia is the host of Refamulating, the newest podcast from the Feelings and Co universe. Listen to Refamulating now, wherever you get your podcasts. Follow the show on Instagram.

An announcement for Apple Premium Subscribers!

TTFA is going away on the main feed. But we're still producing bonus episodes for you all who subscribe through Apple Premium. Marcel shares an update about your subscriptions.

    Your Favorite Obituaries

    Your Favorite Obituaries

As we prepare for our indefinite hiatus, we wanted to remind you that we will still be making TTFA episodes on our Patreon and Apple Premium feeds. If you aren't a premium member, we wanted to show you what kind of episodes we make over there by bringing one of our bonus episodes to the main feed.

Recently, we asked listeners to send in obituaries about your dead people, and boy oh boy did you all deliver some gems that made us laugh, cry and reeeeeally want to double fist a Dr. Pepper with a Miller High Life.

In this bonus episode, Nora reads some of her favorites.

More Than A Survivor: Rape, Activism and what comes next with Sarah Super

In 2015, Sarah Super was raped by her ex-boyfriend Alex Neal. And she channeled that act of violence into a mission-driven organization that helped survivors of sexual violence feel seen and heard. 9 years after the night that changed her life, Sarah reflects on what it means to move forward with her life and to reclaim her identity as more than a survivor. Sarah was a guest on the first season of our podcast. To hear Sarah's original episode, Unbroken, click here.

    BONUS EPISODE: Transition Advice Mailbag

As you all know by now, Terrible Thanks for Asking is taking an indefinite hiatus. That means….we won’t be making new episodes for the foreseeable future AND we have no idea what the future looks like. It’s a huge change, and change is difficult.

As we go through this transition, we asked all of you to send us YOUR advice on how to get through big life transitions.

On today’s bonus episode, Nora reads some of your submissions about transitioning out of marriages, into marriages, out of jobs, and changing friendships.

We won’t be making any more episodes on the main feed, but we ARE making episodes for our Premium subscribers through August. We appreciate your support and hope you’ll stick around through then.

Grief To Love ,

Making sense

Nora’s wonderful Podcast helps make sense of what is an incredibly messy journey through grief. Wonderful guests, relatable stories and Noras wonderful and compassionate interview style always makes for great listening! Highly recommended!

Eliza_1976 ,

Thenedra

Such a lack of compassion shown by Thenedra by everyone in her life and she showed such a lack of compassion towards the innocent pigs slaughtered on her adoptive parents’ farm…is this linked? Either way I lost any respect for her as a person. Hope she has developed compassion towards ALL innocent beings as she’s matured.

Broome Mum ,

Part of every week…

I enjoy this pod cast. I listen to it faithfully while I do laundry.

I am a mother of three, living far from home and working as a busy ObGyn. I see heaps of beauty and suffering and find that it helps me make sense of my world.

I have noticed and appreciate the shows leaning into deep diversity in the last 12+ months. The range of voices has made it even better. So so much better.

I will keep faithfully listening.

As an aside I have not enjoyed as much the more professional polished voices of these last two weeks. Don’t get me wrong. Lots of wise organised advocacy and thinking. The fruit of therapy and growth….but TTFA is at its best when it’s not too manicured.
