MCS 282: 5 Knife Design Fails

    Knives are great tools.
    They're essential survival gear...
...and they are powerful self-defense weapons, too.
But a bad knife design isn't just a problem.
It could get you hurt or even killed.
    And no, I'm not kidding.
If you rely on your knife - and many of us do - you need it to perform.
But too many knife designers are looking to set their knives apart from others.
The result are blades that just... don't... WORK.
In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Buck Greene looks at 5 knife design "fails" that you should identify and avoid when you purchase your next survival or self-defense blade.
Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode:
Why it's a problem if your knife has "hot spots". Why a perfectly good knife can become a bad knife!
Why the grind on a knife's edge matters... and how it can stop your knife from performing.
When a "solution in search of a problem" becomes an issue that can get in your way.
Why you should worry if your knife looks like something from a science fiction movie! A good knife will serve you well for many years.
Learn how to tell if your next purchase is worth the money... and whether the knife you already carry should be thrown in the garbage!

MCS 281: Unarmed Combatives: Defeating Weapons Attacks

MCS 281: Unarmed Combatives: Defeating Weapons Attacks

    People FEAR weapons.
Facing someone who's armed, especially when you're not...
...is understandably something most of us dread.
That's because it's a life and death situation.
But a lot of people studying combatives, including a lot of instructors, are making a critical mistake:
They're forgetting that the person is the problem.
The fact is, realistic combatives teach you to go after the attacker, not his weapon.
Oh, and most disarms you've been taught?
They're nothing but "competing" with the attacker, and you DON'T want that!
In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Jeff Anderson talks to combatives expert Tim Larkin of Target Focus Training to get the REAL DEAL when it comes to defeating weapons attacks.
Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode:
Your number 1 goal when dealing with ALL attacks, armed and unarmed. The type of attacker you SHOULD be training for when it comes to knife defense!
How a man wielding a club has an anatomical advantage thanks to his weapon.
The best times to take down an attacker armed with a gun!
How the concept of "vectors" will change the way you think about "weapons defense." This is a longer episode, and every minute is PACKED with information.
Get in on this now and we think YOUR approach to weapons "defense" just might change forever!

MCS 280: 5 Visual Gunfight Training Mistakes

MCS 280: 5 Visual Gunfight Training Mistakes

A real gunfight is life or death.
It happens faster than most of us can imagine.
You may have only fractions of a second to act...
...and if you make a mistake, YOU'RE DEAD.
This makes firearms training one of the most important things you'll ever do.
    But there's a problem.
A lot of shooters, including experienced instructors, are making 5 very specific VISUAL mistakes.
Worse, they don't REALIZE these mistakes make training scars.
(And during a gunfight is no time to find out about them!)
In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Jeff Anderson looks at each of these 5 visual gunfight training mistakes so that you can make your own gun training more realistic and effective.
Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode:
The mistake almost EVERYONE makes when using the sights. The one place you NEVER want to look during a stoppage drill.
The reloading mistake that even experts make!
The well-meaning bad habit that could cause you to miss a real threat after a shooting.
A common error to avoid after the threat is down and neutralized (you think). Don't ingrain bad habits by training incorrectly.
Learn the right way to train with a gun... and be better prepared to protect yourself and your family with that weapon.

MCS 278: Concealed Carry For Women: Revolver Vs. Auto

MCS 278: Concealed Carry For Women: Revolver Vs. Auto

This is one of those subjects that really gets me angry.
When people shop for a gun for the first time...
...The person selling the gun should be able to guide them..
Too often, that's not what happens!
The problem is bad enough for new gun owners overall.
But it's especially bad for women.
These same guidelines apply to people with hand strength or mobility issues, or who may be smaller.
There are basically 3 things to consider.
If those three things don't happen, your gun can't save your life!
In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Jeff Anderson takes on the topic of concealed carry for women, and whether a revolver or auto is the right choice.
Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode:
The one question you have to ask before ALL others when you go to buy a gun! Which options might be BETTER suited than a gun for some people.
Why "purse carry" might expose you - badly - when a criminal attacks!
The type of attack you're most likely to face "on the street" with your gun.
"Gun hacks" that can make it easier for you to operate a weapon if you lack grip strength or have small hands. This is sure to be a controversial episode.
Listen now so that you'll make the right choice - no matter who you are - when it comes to buying your next gun.

An Amazing Nickname ,

OZ Warrior

I live in Australia and have been listening to MC&S for Two months now. Having listened to all the podcast (yes I listened to all of them).
I would highly recommend listening if you have an interest in this area, the content is amazing and all the different guests that come onto the show are so informative; and the information can be used in Australia (so I would say it can be used worldwide). I can not praise this show highly enough.
