Podcast 361: Gary Davis; The Coolest Interview We've Ever Done

What do Evel Knievel, Captain America, Kenny Roberts and the Terminator have in common? In 2018 Emma, Michael and myself scored an interview with Gary Davis, the coolest guy you’ve probably never heard of. Gary was inducted into the AMA hall of fame for his career as a racer, daredevil and stuntman.
In 1969 he raced alongside greats like Kenny Roberts and Gary Scott.
In 1972 he beat Evil Knievel’s record by jumping 21 cars. But it wasn’t an ordinary jump. He did it with a a partner, both at the same time and passing each other in mid air only feet apart.
He then became a stuntman in the movies and TV, doing all of Evel’s stunts in Viva Knievel and countless other spots.
Next he became a stunt coordinator and 2nd Unit director on films like Terminator 2, Predator 2, Starsky and Hutch, and Torque.
And in 2018 he was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame.
He is still in the business today, as well as being a collector, a bike builder and all around cool guy. So take a listen and enjoy getting to know about Gary Davis and his amazing life.

Podcast 360: Should We Ride During the Pandemic?

Podcast 360: Should We Ride During the Pandemic?

This week on our motorcycle podcast we are on lockdown day #6 here in California, but that didn't stop us from recording a show. We come to you from the safety of our homes with some topics that we find relevant today. First up, should we be riding? The orders during this quarantine call for no unnecessary trips by car or motorcycle. But it also tells us to practice safe social distancing when outdoors exercising. Hmmm. So we discuss the fine points of this debate.
Next up we get a very special Emma's History Hole, this one about military, police and emergency motorcycles.
And lastly we share some emails and announcements.
With Liza, Bagel, Nak, Miss Emma and Naked Jim.

Podcast 359: Rally For Rangers and Corona Bike Week

Podcast 359: Rally For Rangers and Corona Bike Week

This week on our motorcycle podcast, things are different. We are in the early stages of the Covid 19 pandemic, and we are yet to really comprehend how this is going to affect our lives. Events are being shut down left and right, and schools are closing. But in the middle of this uncertainty you can expect that we will continue to bring you stories from the two wheeled perspective, and this is something that can't be taken away from us.
So it was especially awesome that our guest, Tom Medema of Rally for Rangers, still made the long ride to join us in studio and share his amazing story. This group is providing motorcycles to park rangers around the world to help them do their jobs protecting the land, animals and historical sites. But wait, it gets even better. Anyone can sign up and participate in this. In fact, you get to ride the bike on an epic adventure and then at the end, present your bike to one of these rangers. Really awesome what they are doing.
    https://rallyforrangers.org/
Next up we talk to former guest Tamar AKA Doctor Detroit. She's a working ER doctor, and calls from the hospital to give us the facts about Covid 19 as she knows it.
And lastly we talk to Zach who was at Daytona Bike Week as the pandemic was being realized. It was definitely a different experience then everyone expected. And it's possible that we may not have another motorcycle rally for quite some time. Yikes. So enjoy the show, and hopefully you'll be a little more informed.

    Podcast 357: Should Parents Worry?

    Podcast 357: Should Parents Worry?

This week on our motorcycle podcast we ask the question to the parents in the room about the conflict of having a teenager who wants to ride. On the one hand it's a great joy to share your passion with your child, but on the other hand it's a great worry as to their safety. We are also joined by journalist, biker and mom, Susan Carpenter. She also has a son who wants to ride, even after they were both hit by a car while riding when he was just 11 years old.
We also get a ride report from Jim and Liza, who put the Africa Twins to the test with some highway, dirt and twisties all in one day.
Next up we hear from Bagel, Emma and Jim on their trip to Portland for the One Show, Two Show, and some steaks with a stripper name Luna. Lastly we finish with another Craigslist rant from Liza, and listener emails.
With Liza, Nak, Bagel, Miss Emma, Ben, Scott and Naked Jim.

Ep 67

Sounded promising but... Ended up typical Americans. Some guy stacked his bike, first instinct "who do I sue". Oooh there was gravel on a road. Oh my, someone else is to blame for my failure to stay upright.
Not someone I'll be looking to for advice. Stole the classifieds bit from the wheelnerds, only not funny. Boring and irritating.
