We're moving to YouTube: Bookmark www.mystery.wtdaudio.com now! An intoxicating blend of crime and spies, this show covers cold war espionage plus my favourite spy writers such as John le Carré. On the crime side we cover both true crime and hardboiled fiction such as Erle Stanley Gardner. I am more interested in psychology and motive than blood and guts, and I thought you might be the same. Read more at www.crimespies.com where you can also buy books and stuff. For anyone who likes the darkness, wherever it might lie. And no swearing either, although it can be a bit spooky for kids.

Book: Ninety-Two In The Shade by Thomas McGuane

Book: Ninety-Two In The Shade by Thomas McGuane

I really love Thomas McGuane. His 92 In The Shade is an overlooked crime novel in the UK, and Thomas is much more famous in his native USA. I've found a way to include this bonus episode here on Mystery and Intrigue but it's from a year ago when I was still learning how to podcast, and it was originally part of my rare books show. So don't worry too much if people start sniffing the pages! You can find out more at www.crimespies.com.

S2/E5: The Mystery of Claudia Lawrence

My review of a more recent cold case, the disapperance of Claudia Lawrence. You can read the companion article on Medium: https://medium.com/crime-spies/the-mystery-of-claudia-lawrence-26dc92ee1292
This episode started life in my Citizen Detective podcast which I have now incorporated here. Each season we will alternate between crime and spies, and sometimes we might mix the two. But the theme is mystery and intrigue in all its forms. I am open to new ideas for titles: how does "Mystery and Intrigue" sound?!
