NEWS IN SLOW JAPANESE

I highly recommend this podcast for learning Japanese.
There are transcripts for each episode on their website (very useful) and vocabulary lists (even more useful), and they have some episodes on YOUTUBE in a form that would appeal to many.
Their early episodes are a bit quiet but the volume seems to have gone up now, which is good.
