Episode 30 - Trouble In Paradise; Short Calls With Bobby, And Guest Host Blaze

Episode 30 - Trouble In Paradise; Short Calls With Bobby, And Guest Host Blaze

Today we get to hear Bobby explain how the Michigan Department Of Corrections punishes inmates for not showing up for slave labor, even when they don't tell you where you're supposed to go to perform that slave labor. Argh...it's another example of the failed mass incarceration system that most on the outside don't even know about. Issuing punishment tickets (LOP) for minor infractions - including their slave pits!
Since Bobby is on LOP (Loss Of Privileges) Jeremy talks with Blaze, as Blaze reads a letter, that he wrote on behalf of another inmate, addressing a large unused field on the prison yard. I mute the inmate's name a few times because Blaze refers to him using his government name.

Episode 29 - Bobby Feeling Exposed And Vulnerable

Episode 29 - Bobby Feeling Exposed And Vulnerable

Bobby talks openly and emotionally about why he's in prison. Andrew Gold, a podcast  journalist from the UK, heard about Bobby and reached out to him for an interview. It's never easy talking about the night Monica died, and the pain felt discussing it brings up many emotions. This episode was recorded shortly after the interview.

Episode 26 - Melancholy In Prison: Understanding Both Sides Of The Coin, And 80's Fashion!

Episode 26 - Melancholy In Prison: Understanding Both Sides Of The Coin, And 80's Fashion!

Bobby doesn't hide, or push back his feelings of sadness, his melancholy, or cover up the fact that he still has to look inward to maintain personal growth. This episode was a reaction from some feelings he was experiencing the day before. Just when he started placing happiness on the top self, he realized that happiness can be a fleeting reaction to temporary pleasures. Then...just when the guys are tightening the belt, they bring out the Piñata and drop it in your lap with some funny banter about short-shorts from the 80's!

Episode 25 - Collateral Damage; A Mother's Perspective On Prison

Episode 25 - Collateral Damage; A Mother's Perspective On Prison

Mama C makes a guest appearance in this episode. The thought was to get perspective from a family member on what it's like for them to have someone they love in prison. The emotional toll is the hardest, and in the beginning Mama C kept the hurt to herself. She didn’t want Bobby to see her pain. Turns out that hiding the pain caused more hurt than talking about it as a family. She no longer hides the hurt, and no longer cries after visits. With all the pain and suffering Bobby’s had to deal with, she’s proud of how he’s turned a tragedy in to personal growth & sharing what happened so others don’t make the same mistake.

During the phone conversation the 'institution' pulls the plug on the phone call, and Mama C has some slight audio issues...but we manage to finish up anyway.
