Ep 180 Joe McCullough (Frostgrave 2nd Edition)

Ep 180 Joe McCullough (Frostgrave 2nd Edition)

This episode I catch up with Joe McCullough and we talk through the reasoning behind and the tweaks involved in Frostgrave 2nd Edition. Frostgrave was one of my first delves into narrative wargaming once I began to branch out from Warhammer 40k. I found the stories that could be created, the time I spent thinking up narrative, and the memories of the games to be a massive benefit to the hobby for me personally, that gave the hobby so much more depth. I really enjoyed using the framework created by Joe to put my own spin on things and I mention during the show that I feel Frostgrave is a vehicle for me to create great experiences. It came at a time when I was looking for this exact sort of experience, I just didnt know it, the only thing I knew was that I didnt really get a good feeling from competitive wargaming, Frostgrave took me by the hand and led me out of the initial antechamber of the hobby to where I am now, and I cant thank it or Joe enough.
I always enjoy talking to Joe, we open with his roast dinner strategy and then delve into the nuts and bolts of the new edition which is you are a crafty old veteran of Frostgrave or a new apprentice it should give you an insight into the world, the rules, and the structure, I hope you enjoy the show.

Ep 179: Rob S (Fellow Nerd & The Men With 2 Brains Podcast)

This episode I speak to Rob Saunders about his eclectic hobby and work life. Rob is a jack of many trades working in a board game cafe, being a stand up comedian, member of bands, and also the purveyor of podcast treats in the form of the men with two brains & death nerve podcast (about horror movies).
We sit and chat about his personal journey into the hobby and his life decision to chase things he loves. We also talk about our shared love of narrative and story creation on the tabletop, amongst a good few other areas. Rob is someone I find myself talking to on a regular basis just because he is a great guy and has a positive attitude to the things he does, twas a fantastic chat with a really great person, I hope you enjoy it.

In this episode I speak to Charlotte who is not only a big fan of the hobby like you and me, but she also works for Steam Forged Games as part of their PR team. I wanted to talk to her for a number of reasons and in the show we talk about her own hobby background, gender portrayal, and also a little about the world of PR and how she goes about her job on a day to day basis.
It was a fun chat and I thank Charlotte for coming onto the show, I hope you enjoy it too.

Ep 177: Dave Taylor (Dave Taylor Miniatures)

Ep 177: Dave Taylor (Dave Taylor Miniatures)

In this episode I speak to Dave Taylor who has completed more projects in the hobby industry than we’ve had hot dinners! This is a marathon podcast clocking in at over 2 hours and thats simply down to the diverse and interesting journey that Dave has been on during his hobby life time. From discovering the hobby, to working within it, to moving countries because of it Dave has had an amazing ride so far and it was a pleasure to ramble about it for a while.
Dave is possibly a peripheral figure for us schmo’s that engage in the hobby from our side but internally he is a big driving force that connects cool people doing interesting things with us as the hobby nerds. I always find it tough personally when I like something and want to mention it as the term ‘influencer’ or whatever has an association that I want to avoid like COVID-19 but I feel Dave does a great job of making us aware of things without slapping us round the chops with it.
It was fun talking to Dave and he is someone I have the utmost regard and respect for because of he is demeanour, openness, and the intent of his operation. I hope you enjoy the show.

Ep 176: Colin (Battle Systems/Core Space Game)

Ep 176: Colin (Battle Systems/Core Space Game)

In this episode I speak to Colin of Battle Systems. Battle Systems are a company who produce high quality card terrain along with the brilliant Core Space 28mm sci fi skirmish game. Core space is a wham bam, one game in a can game with all you need including all of the high quality card terrain AND a neoprene mat too. Its a really good game in my opinion and one I love to play.
It was fun talking to Colin and his passion, enthusiasm, and drive for what he  does shines through in the chat, he’s a great guy making great things and I hope you enjoy the show.
